This is a brief catechism of common Unitarian beliefs. As with most catechisms, the material is presented in a question and answer form. (KevinS)

• 1. Is there a deadline?
     We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen.Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  2. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here
     There are just two parts to this production. KevinS will do one of the readings (and the editing, unless someone volunteers for this.) The second part entails the reading of the questions presented in each of the ten chapters of the book. These questions may be recorded as one file. Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.

I'm assuming we will find a DPL, so I feel confident in thinking ahead.

I think that you might simply read each question, with its number, and leave a good sized pause after each question.

I don't know where you'll upload this just yet, but I'm sure the MC will help us with that.

After that, I'll edit things and will want your approval at some point, though I not sure how I could mess things up. (Touch wood!)

Actually, a project like this could use two people as DPL -- one to do the parts and one to do the final chapters The final PL should be done by someone other than the editor, but the same person could PL both parts and final, or one person can PL parts and also edit.
So, I could PL parts, you edit, and I PL the final. Or, I could PL parts and edit, and you PL the final, or switch those -- whatever works best for you.

There should be two files for each chapter, one for questions and one for answers. In the file name just use "questions" for one role and "answers" for the other plus the chapter number.

In recording, just leave about three seconds after each question and after each answer to make it easy to edit. Also, decide if you want the numbers read, the format if you do. Also, decided which person should read the intro and outro for each section. One could do intro and one the outro, or it could be the same.

There are several ways to set up the MW. I think it is easiest to have three sections for each chapter -- one for each role and one for the final, but the MC can give better guidance on that.

Just my personal take on this, but I think it would work, and I'll do whatever would be most helpful for you.

I would love your help. Your conception of the MW is a good one, but would there be three sections for each chapter? One for questions, one for answers, and one for the edited file?

Your help in this will be most appreciated, as well as that of an MC who may pick this project up.

As for a second (final?) DPL, I think I know someone upon whom I can impose.

Or you could just make it simple, depending on how good you (Kevin) feel you are at editing.

For the Heidelberg Catechism project, the question reader recorded the questions and posted the link in the thread (not in the MW). I (the answer reader), took his file, opened it and inserted my answers, proofing at the same time, basically. Uploaded the final into the MW, and voila - a complete section.

This would make Kevin the PL of the questions and the final editor, as well as the reader of the answers. Then you'd just need a PL for the finished project.

It's more work on Kevin, though.

I've set this up with an initial idea for the MW. Feel free to change it as you desire. (You can add more sections yourself as BC, using the "Add New Section" button. It adds it to the bottom, but you can drag and drop it wherever you want it.)

I think the full dramatic reading treatment would be overkill for this little project. Even if you have an outside editor, I don't think you need a separate section for each answer file, unless the editor really thinks they'd be more organized having them.

Well, here's a start.

I recorded Section 0 as I think I am to be the only voice here.

More will come as soon as we are able to coordinate more details.

Also, please note that I have eliminated mention of reference texts in Section 0 as I don't anticipate our reading a page or two of titles found at the end of the Catechism.

Here is a recording of answers to Section 1. I have done nothing fancy with them, but only want everyone to hear at least a portion of the recording to see how laid back I imagine this project.

Too, I want GillH to hear so that she can critique me and we can approach some kind of uniformity in our questioning and answering.

For that matter, everyone is encouraged to speak up. If I sound too, too disinterested or languid, tell me.

I will record all the questions in one file with 3 - 5 seconds between each. If that's not correct, let me know.
