Multilingual Short Works Collection 022 - Poetry & Prose by Various ( - ).

This is a collection of short pieces, poetry or prose, fiction and non-fiction, in several different languages (except standard English). All chosen and recorded by Librivox volunteers. ( ToddHW)

This project is complete. (It is still deriving files at Archive.org, but should be ready by morning.) All audio files can be found at https://librivox.org/multilingual-short-works-collection-022-poetry-prose-by-various/

• This collection is for short works, in any language except (modern) English. This can include poetry but also prose, fiction as well as non-fiction.
  Feel free to choose any work which is in the public domain. If you're unsure what we mean by 'public domain', please read this explanation. Try to stick to works that run less than 60 minutes.
  Please follow the instructions in this post carefully. There is no need to "sign-up" before recording; please remember that you should choose a work that is Public Domain in your country AND that was published before 1924; if you are unsure about anything, please post here and ask before recording!
  
  Everyone can contribute as many recordings as he/she wants.
  It's OK to submit readings in English (English being a language, I figure), but as there are plenty of other places to put those, let's limit them to special cases such as interesting regional dialects or accents.
  
  If you are interested to see what has been done previously, check the previous Multilingual Collections in our catalog (but we welcome multiple versions of the same work).

  Need noise-cleaning?
  Listen to your file through headphones. If you can hear some constant background noise (hiss/buzz), you may want to clean it up a bit. The latest version of Audacity is recommended for noise-cleaning. See this LibriVox wiki page for a complete guide.
  Save as mp3 file
  File name all in lowercase: msw022_[work's title]_[author's last name]_[your initials]_128kb.mp3
  (e.g. msw022_chunsi_wang_drb_128kb.mp3)
  Put file name all in lower case, the title all in one word, drop articles (without the square brackets, please, and NO SPACES)

wohoo, thank you for the first submission in this project, Przemysław, and also a warm welcome to the forum. As this is your first LV recording, I will create your personal reader page shortly, stay tuned.

I am a bit pressed for time right now, but I will PL your section tomorrow at the latest and give you feedback on it. Looking forward to listening to this. I don't speak Esperanto but I already PLed a few poems in the language and I understood a bit. So this will be interesting.

so, I had a good listen through your section just now you have a beautiful easy way of narrating, so this is already perfect to follow along with the text. Even though I don't know the language, I know enough of other European languages to get the gist of most of the text.

For the most part it was word perfect, but I found a few small deviations. I’m going to mention them all, since I don’t know the language and can’t assess the importance of the error myself. If you tell me that they don't change the meaning of the sentence in any significant way, then it's probably optional to correct or leave them as it is. And if you want to correct them, please only re-record that one sentence that was wrong. No need to re-record it all again, that would be too much work for you (and for me as prooflistener). We only do spot-editing for errors.

> finally, your overall volume is just a little bit below our lower accepted limit. We accept between 86 and 92 dB, preferably as close to 89 dB as possible. Yours is only 85.9 dB. Could you maybe amplify with 3 dB, then you would be perfect inside the middle range.

Thanks for your help; it's great that you can check the recording in Esperanto. Now all proposed corrections are there.

"helaj" (bright) is in the text version, but the original text edition actually has the word "belaj" (nice). I changed it as well.

ah ok, I always check with the original scanned source because that one is clearly PD (public domain). With a typed-out text, we can never be sure whether the editor changed anything, or in this case here I think it was a scanno, 'h' and 'b' often get mixed up in OCRed online texts. So we have to be careful with our sources here. Your scanned original text clearly states the publishing date, so we can use it. The other site would not have been useable for LV as we cannot be sure that the text is unedited and changed from the source text. Luckily you found the other text, so all is well
