thank you for your help, Julia :9: I'll mark it PL notes for the moment, until we hear back from the reader.

Hi,

I listened to your recording and after checking with a professional Japanese recording, the 通 in the first line is apparently read "kayo" rather than "tsuu". For me personally, it doesn't make a difference, but it might for a native speaker.

Fantastic!
Thank you so much

I talked with a japanese and she said the right pronunciation in this case is kayo, and the sentence don't make sense when read tsu.

I'll correct it as soon as possible!

Hi all,
I'll try to add a few of my recorded poems from a full LV volume on one of the greatest Romanian poets, Mihai Eminescu.
Here is the link to the full text on Gutenberg website: http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/35323/pg35323-images.html
The first poem is called "Glossa", uploaded here:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/msw022_glossa_eminescu_cn_128kb.mp3
Duration:5:21
Second one, "Mai Am Un Singur Dor":
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/msw022_maiamunsingurdor_eminescu_cn_128kb.mp3
Duration:2:16
Thank you :)

sorry, maybe I misunderstood... but is this the same recording you are including in your Solo on Eminescu ? If so we cannot use it here in this project. We have the LV policy that each recorded section can only be used once, in one project. No doubling in other projects.

yes I'm sure there is a lot more unrecorded Romanian poetry out there 8-) Thank you for thinking about this project though. Sorry it couldn't be included.

Hi Sonia,
Here I am again.
This is a poem by George Cosbuc (1866-1918), a Romanian poet.
More info here:
https://ro.wikisource.org/wiki/Autor:George_Co%C8%99buc
Sorry I couldn't find him on Gutenberg or on other well known internet archive, but he's 100% in the public domain, everywhere in the World now.
The poem is called "El-Zorab" and was uploaded here:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/msw022_elzorab_cosbuc_cn_128kb.mp3
Duration:9:35
Hopefully works this time.
Thank you :)

thank you for this contribution. Unfortunately wikisource is never a reliable source to check whether a text is public domain. :? We only accept those texts that have the actual scan included. Now I checked on this link you gave me, I don't speak enough Romanian, so maybe I missed the link to the scan, but (after spending an hour or so) I found an old version online on archive of this poem !

here is the book scan: https://archive.org/details/VersurisiProza
here the page where it's clearly stated that it was published before 1923: https://ia802808.us.archive.org/21/items/VersurisiProza/CR-XIX-I-96_0010.jpg
and here the poem over 3 pages:
https://ia802808.us.archive.org/21/items/VersurisiProza/CR-XIX-I-96_0041.jpg
https://ia802808.us.archive.org/21/items/VersurisiProza/CR-XIX-I-96_0042.jpg
https://ia902808.us.archive.org/21/items/VersurisiProza/CR-XIX-I-96_0043.jpg

So this is acceptable, with a few corrections. I found 4 significant deviations from the original text in your recording. So you can see that wikisource is not very reliable for the accurate scanned text ;) I didn't count the numerous different spellings as I thought it's probably only an old spelling but the word is the same, but the 4 sentences seem to me to be too different to ignore.

So could you correct these please:

> at 0:31: “Pleacă-repede călare Să găsească pe bărbat” – you say: “Pleacă-n grabă ca să vadă Dacă e adevărat.” –
> at 1:05: “Și, cu vorbe scurte Intră lordul John in curte“ – you say: “Și, ochindu-l bine, Lordul drept spre dânsul vine”
> at 1:43: “Și ‘n orbite ochii-I ard.” – you say: “Simte palmele că-i ard,”
> at 2:13: “Spune, ce mai vrei cu mine ?” – you say: “Auzi tu, cu ce gând vine!“
> at 2:24-2:26: the pause here seems a bit long to me, anything over 1.5 seconds feels long to a listener. I would probably cut this a bit

Thank you

As for your other two texts, I'm very sorry, again, I didn't find a link to the scanned source in your wikisource link, and I checked a bit on archive.org, but couldn't find any other version of the poem either. So unless you find a PD source, we cannot accept those two. :( Best thing is always to search on archive, where you see the date printed in the actual book. Gutenberg is also a reliable source, but unfortunately they only have 2 Romanian books there so far.

If in doubt, please post your link here, before you record, then we can check and you won't have invested time for nothing.

We need a link to a scan or definite PD source such as Gutenberg: the link has to go into the Librivox database metadata source link for each item in a collection. Wikisource does not suffice unless it is a document scan with date information - almost anyone can upload a file to wikisource.

It really is up to you to find a provably PD source to reference before we can add these to the collection.

Thanks, Todd

Hi Sonia and Todd,
I'll search for a better link. He died in 1918 for sure.
Sonia, there might be more than one version of the "Lordul John". I'll re-record the version you found on the archive.org, unless I can show you another.
Thank you for all the time invested.
I'll be back :)

Hi guys,
It seems that librivox has accepted previous recordings from George Cosbuc, with wiki links provided, as you can see in here:
https://librivox.org/christmas-short-works-collection-2015/
and here:
https://librivox.org/multilingual-poetry-collection-016-by-various/
Also, here are a few other internet websites, that show George Cosbuc and his poetry:
https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=hvd.hnle7p&view=1up&seq=7
http://www.romanianvoice.com/poezii/poeti/cosbuc.php

http://www.povesti-pentru-copii.com/poezii-pentru-copii/george-cosbuc.html
http://www.versuri-si-creatii.ro/poezii/c/george-cosbuc-8zudtpu/
http://www.poezii.md/poet/george-cosbuc/
All of my uploaded poems could be found in many of these sites.

Advice?
Thank you :)
