I am new to LibriVox, but would love to get started with a chapter of "The Bee People." How about chapter 14, "Honeycomb," if it is still available?

Thank you,

Brian Powell
Hi Brian and a big welcome to this project. :D I have assigned that section to you (14) but before you record it, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

Hey Phil,
I've decided to help Petunia & Ignatius to add Chapter 6 & 9 to the MW. I hope that's okay.

I'll PL them right away. Image
Thanks, SaraHale. :D

Hello Phil,

Thank you very much for assigning the chapter to me. I have uploaded the 1 minute test sound as asked. The recordings are really supposed to be forced to mono? Interesting...

Here you go: https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/1-minute_test_Brian_Powell.mp3

Let me know if something is off.

Thanks Brian. Yep, we force 'em to mono. Your voice is great and your tech specs are right on the button but your volume is too low to give you t he OK yet. We aim at 89 dB (plus or minus 3) and your current set up shows up as 81.2 dB. So please increase the volume slider a bit or move closer to the mic or something like that to kick up the final volume. Then make another test, call it test2 or something like that, and submit it in this thread again. I'll get to it very soon and you wll get the ok to record lots and lots.

Hi Phil,

Sorry, new to recording. I bumped the mic volume slider from 50 to 75... hopefully that wasn't too much? Using audacity or the trial I have of reaper, I'm somewhat clueless how to translate the levels I see to the 81.2 or desired 89 dB...

Sample uploaded here:

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test2_Brian_Powell.mp3

Thanks for the consideration.

Kind Regards,

Brian Powell

Hey John,

I do enjoy your narration. And I'm so happy you've claimed more sections. :9:

The PL notes this time aren't major. But I wanted to point them out, in case you would like to fix them. Personally, I'm not good at uploading word perfect recordings (but I'm doing my best).

Chapter 6:
Page 56/52
@ 3:43.5
"Miss Apis over from top to toe,"
I hear "toe" instead of "top.

Page 64/60
@11:45.0
"all you need do is to look."
Missed "to"

Chapter 9:
Page 87/82
@9:49.0
Miss Apis does not stop to consider what will happen if she stings you,
Missed "stop to"

Please feel free to edit them or not. Have a great day! :D
Thanks, SaraHale. :D
