Sorry, new to recording. I bumped the mic volume slider from 50 to 75... hopefully that wasn't too much? Using audacity or the trial I have of reaper, I'm somewhat clueless how to translate the levels I see to the 81.2 or desired 89 dB...
Sample uploaded here:

Thanks for the consideration.
Kind Regards,
Brian Powell
 That is great Brian, and you are now cleared forlots and lots of recordings. You may go forth and record! (your volume is at 89.3 dB so an excellent guess)

Hello Phil,

Thank you for the quick review of the sample recordings to get me on my way! I am excited to start the project. I hope to record it over the weekend if my voice returns to me. Funny timing, this sickness. I developed a cough along with the rest of my family and my voice is literally destroyed today... It's got that "you sound sick" crackle etc. to it right now. I'll jump on the recording as soon as it's better.

It looks like the general rules are to "provide recordings within 2 months" (which seems like an awful lot of time), but I certainly would like to turn it around much quicker.

Thanks for the warm welcome, the review of my specs via the sample recordings, and for green-lighting my recording for this project and more!

Brian

Your enthusiasm is great and we love it. We are a relaxed group of people in general, all volunteers and so lots of time is allowed to give everyone the feeling that they are not rushed. Real life stuff happens , like a raspy voice for instance  . But jump right in and do as many sections as you want as fast as you want; we are flexible!

Hello Zarina,
I've enjoyed your reading so much! I see how much you've enjoyed recording Chapter 12.

I do have a small PL note:
Long silence. I think 1 - 1.5 seconds are a good silence length.
@0:24.6 - 0:26.8

It felt that the Queen took a long time to appear. I know she is very busy with her three thousand bees.

Well, I hope I'll get the chance to be your DPL in the near future. :9:
Thanks, SaraHale. :D

Done! I also trimmed another space in the intro that seemed a little lengthier than necessary. Here's the new link. Thanks!

Hey Zarina,
Chapter 12 is now PL OK. I actually listened to the recording again because you did it so well. I hope you won't mind me asking you this: Have you added ID3 V2 tags the second time you uploaded the chapter?

Thanks! :D
Thanks, SaraHale. :D

Oh! I had originally typed them in the first time I exported it, before realizing I was not supposed to, and they kept showing back up and needing to be deleted again every time I redid it (had to do it more than once to pass the checker before I uploaded it). I must have forgotten that last time. Should I save a new copy without them? And thank you so much for your kind words! I'm still getting the hang of this equipment, and it's taken lots of trial and error to get a clean sound. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!

Actually, I'm not sure about that. So, I'll wait for Phil. I'm sure he will know what to do with the Tags. You see, I'm new to Proof listening.

If you're using the Checker to check the volume, you can have Replay Gain. It's an Audacity plug-in which tells you the volume of the recording within Audacity. Here's the link to the wiki: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Measuring_Volume_within_Audacity

Let me know if I need help with anything. :D

Have a lovely day!
Thanks, SaraHale. :D
