That's the second random dis of Archer I've seen today--he also gets a side eye shout-out in Good Omens, the new Amazon Prime miniseries based on the Pratchett/Gaiman end-of-the-world novel. (Yes, I binge-watched it today instead of doing all the things I had planned to do, including edit my contribution to this very collection....)

Anyway, the angel character owns a bookstore and when another visiting angel remarks that he smells something evil, the bookstore owner says, "Oh that will be the Jeffrey Archer books, I am afraid."

Isn't it weird how you don't give someone or something a thought for many years, and then they suddenly seem to show up all over the place?

"List of LibriVox Recordings (2005 - 2007)"

I made a list of all the recordings using the Internet Archive API, which you can find here: https://gist.github.com/lethargilistic/9a7651ec63583dcef1b8084260ef8c28

There are 1114 entries from 2005 to 2007, so an average of 3-5 seconds per entry would put it somewhere between 55.7 minutes to 92 minutes. It might end up going over 70 minutes and require breaking up.

Ideally, I'd like to hit right at 70 minutes with this because there are only 393 entries for 2005-2006, and that probably wouldn't be big enough for one nice entry.

I'll record it later.

Let me run this by other admins. The problem is that this isn't what we record at LV; it's not a published work; it's a self-referring list. I'm leaning towards it not being suitable for a LV recording. But I'll get back to you on that.

I've gotten a couple quick responses, and they're in agreement. This isn't a "text" that can be recorded as a submission to a LV project. Sorry! :(
Texts that can be recorded for LibriVox include the following:

* Published books that are in the public domain in the USA
* Published short works that are in the public domain in the USA (essays, newspaper articles, short stories, poems, etc)
* US government documents that are in the public domain in the USA
* Texts of notable speeches that are in the public domain in the USA

Texts that CANNOT be recorded for LibriVox include the following:

* Texts that are still under copyright in the USA
* Self-published novels, short stories, poems, essays, etc

Aw. I was going to link it to the catalog, but there wasn't a nice way to get a readable list that way.

Hello Tricia,
I am new to LibriVox, having just got my 1-minute test OK'd a couple days ago.
I am working on getting my first effort approved for the latest short ghost & horror story collection.
Meanwhile, I am looking around for other projects, and came across the insomnia collection -- a brilliant idea. 😌
I would like to read from Culpeper's Complete Herbal (1900 edition), pdf available at the Open Library, here: https://openlibrary.org/books/OL24168038M/Culpeper%27s_Complete_herbal
I haven't yet decided on what section(s) I might do.
WDYT?
Thank you!

FAB.
I'll get to it as soon as my first recording is approved.
That way I might avoid repeating some technical errors.
Thank you...LJB

I'm impressed! I tried once, and ended up scrambling my sections instead. So I never tried again.

O boy, am I glad I hadn't started this one already...

...simply because I have had to climb a nearly vertical learning curve for recording and editing.
But now that my first recording has been approved and I'm an expert in doing this tech-y stuff, I am getting Mr. Culpeper ready, and have a couple Qs for you:
: Does it matter which sections of the work I read?
: And if I read sections that are not quite consecutive, do I need to indicate that in the recording?
Thank you...LJB

You certainly can wait to do a monster section like this until you've recorded some more. This project isn't going away any time soon; it'll probably be available for at least 6 months. :) Regarding your questions:

- Doesn't matter which sections you read. We can simply call it "selections from..."
- I suppose it would be good to indicate which ones you've read here in the post when you submit it, just for my info. That info won't go in the catalog, and you don't need to record that information, especially since you'll be reading the section headings anyway. :)
