I had signed up for some poems yesterday. Due to a medical procedure I had time today to do short recordings so I decided to start on them. Here are the recordings in the series that I had signed up for, minus the ones already spoken for.

Lynda
150 and 153 are PL OK:

141:

0:01: 'Requiescat' is pronounced 'rek-wee-ES-kaht' or '-kat'.

142:

0:11, 0:37, 1:05, 1:34: As it says in the first post: "NOTE: Do not read the Roman numerals."

143:

1:00: "Within the world these symbols were heard alone" should be "Within the world these sounds were heard alone"

144:

1:29: 'Naiad' in "Is is a Naiad singing in the dusk" should be pronounced 'NEY-ad' or 'NEY-uhd' or 'NYE-ad'
1:41: 'voluble' in "Or but a wild-bird voluble with thanks" should be pronounced 'VOL-yuh-buhl'

145:

0:04: I'm quite leniant on pronunciations of 'Cawein', as no-one seems to know how he said it, but 'CAS-weyn' is definitely not right. This is the only recording where you said it like that.

146:

0:00: There's a click right at the start of the recording
1:15: "What for Alaskas of the skies" should be "What far Alaskas of the skies"

147:

0:00: There's a click right at the start of the recording

148:

0:12, 0:45, 1:19: As it says in the first post: "NOTE: Do not read the Roman numerals."

151:

0:01: 'Immortelles' is pronounced 'im-awr-TELZ'
0:11, 0:42: As it says in the first post: "NOTE: Do not read the Roman numerals."
0:25: 'epitomize' in "So did her soul epitomize" is pronounced 'ih-PIT-uh-myez', not 'ep-ee-toh-MYEZ'
0:47: "May so certain" should be "May so contain"

152:

0:12, 1:14, 2:18: As it says in the first post: "NOTE: Do not read the Roman numerals."
0:42, 0:45, 1:02, 1:48, 2:14: I believe 'Rockaby' in "This is the road to Rockaby Town", "Rockaby, lullaby, where dreams are cheap", "The wagon that takes you to Rockaby Town", "Lullaby, rockaby, where, white as cream", "Lullaby, rockaby, over the sand" is pronounced 'ROK-uh-bye' (like you say at 1:10)
2:33-2:43: Repetition of "With the little brown owls all huddled a-row"

153:

2:36: 'Yea' in "Yea, whom He loves the Lord God chasteneth" is pronounced 'yay'

154:

0:01: I'm hearing "The Messages of the Lilies" rather than "The Message of the Lilies"

A couple of other things that don't need be fixed, but to be taken into account with your future recording:
  • Try to move a bit back from your microphone, as you're getting some popping and sibilance.
  • As I mentioned, there's no correct way to say 'Cawein', but try to stick to one; I counted five different pronunciations among your recordings.

Here are sections 033, 042 and 060 -

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/poemscawein3_033_cawein_128kb.mp3
Track length: 2:20

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/poemscawein3_042_cawein_128kb.mp3
Track length: 2:39

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/poemscawein3_060_cawein_128kb.mp3
Track length: 2:07
All three are PL OK.
22 and 23 are PL OK.

24:

2:10: The ending silence is too short. You should be aiming for 5 seconds, and you've got less than 4.
Here is the corrected version:

I might have gone a little overboard with alternate pronunciations...
1, 2, 53 and 57 are PL OK.

3:

2:04: 'lichen' in 'Limbs snow-furred and moccasined with lichen' would normally be pronounced 'LYE-kun', but in this case, it should be pronounced 'LICH-un' so it rhymes with 'rich in' and 'kitchen'.

21:

0:39 (definitely not required!): So that it rhymes with 'mind', 'wind' in "Against the evening wind' should be pronounced like the verb. To quote the OED (and yes, this is talking about the noun):
The normal pronunciation would be /waɪnd/, as in behind, bind, find, grind, hind, mind, rind, etc., and this pronunciation remains dialectally and in ordinary poetical usage. The pronunciation /wɪnd/ became current in polite speech during the 18th cent.; it has been used occasionally by poets, but the paucity of appropriate rhyming words (such as sinned, thinned, dinned) and the ‘thinness’ of the sound have been against its general use in verse.

Here are my last four sections, 71, 124, 126 and 133 -

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/poemscawein3_071_cawein_128kb.mp3
Track length: 3:42

Track length: 2:22

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/poemscawein3_133_cawein_128kb.mp3
Track length: 2:27
124, 126 and 133 are PL OK.

71:

1:36 (not required): So that it rhymes with 'rain', 'porcelain' in "A fragile, fairy porcelain" should be pronounced 'PAWR-suh-leyn', an admittedly obscure pronunciation that is listed in the OED.
