You nailed it, Ann. P & J, though a great read, was draining with the challenges of all those French names and the heartrending agonizing of Pierre and his mother.

This one's a fascinating history lesson told by a very talented writer and eyewitness. Could WWII and its horrors, and the Cold War have been averted had Germany and the USSR been invited to this conference? Maybe, maybe not, but...?

Here's 6.

I never knew Japan was of concern at least 10 years before Pearl Harbor. This is becoming quite a history lesson!

It is! But then, it does make sense. The things going on with Japan in WWII don't just start up overnight. Sections 5 and 6 are PL OK!

Here's Section 10

See you some time next week. Apropos of our current book, we're going to visit friends in DC with our nine yr old grandson this weekend, who'll be seeing it for the first time. Should be jaw-dropping for him. Always has been for me!

Very cool! I would love to go to DC, to see all the sights, but the closest that I get is still an 8 hour drive. The boys are not excited about going, so we have not yet. They were more interested in driving up to Cincinnati to watch the Cubs play the Reds. That was a good game! The Reds were the worst team in baseball at that point, but they beat the Cubbies. Great game! Have a fun trip!
