1900 or The Last President by Ingersoll Lockwood (1841 - 1918).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page:https://librivox.org/1900-or-the-last-president-by-ingersoll-lockwood/
The year is 1896. The United States is rocked by the election of an unlikely president. On election night, riots broke out in the streets of New York. The city was paralyzed with dread. Mobs organized under the lead of Anarchists and Socialists. Farther South, people celebrated. This was a President elected by the working class and he was a President who followed through with his commitment to fight for the rights of the people. This president would fight to end the enslavement of the people by money lenders, big bankers, corporations and government overtax. But can he be successful in a society that is rapidly absorbing socialist ideologies? ( CJ Plogue)

  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

So, all should be set up. Let me know if you need anything! Happy recording!

EDIT: I assume you do not have a DPL in mind? Upon such assumption I took the liberty to put the ~ sign before the title to advertise that we need a PLer.

Thank you Kristine! I do not have a DPL in mind. This project should be done pretty quickly. It is only 4 sections. I have all of it read and 2 sections edited and ready for upload. The other two should be finished by tomorrow.

Thanks again!
Kind Regards!

Sections 3 & 4 are ready for PL

https://librivox.org/uploads/kikisaulite/1900orthelastpresident_03_lockwood_128kb.mp3
90.0 dB / Time 15:29.88

https://librivox.org/uploads/kikisaulite/1900orthelastpresident_04_lockwood_128kb.mp3
90.1 dB / Time 18:42.95

Note to whoever decides to PL: This author has some of the longest run on sentences I have ever seen. Some paragraphs are one sentence! That said, the inflection in parts was difficult. I am not offended if you hear inflection that could be better. I fixed a few when I pre-pl'd, but I am sure there are some that may need attention. Please don't hesitate to be hyper-critical. CJ
Kind Regards!

Awesome! Added Elsie as DPL and moved us to the SOLOS forum to keep the Launch Pad tidy.
