This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/plow-stories-by-clara-dillingham-pierson/

Plow Stories by Clara Dillingham Pierson (1868 - 1952).

This book tells of the important role of the plow, starting from its humble beginnings and how the plow has changed over time. This is achieved through a series of small stories set during different time periods in history. The introduction of the book encourages us to, "learn all you can about plows, even if you live in a great city. City people would soon starve if there were no plows and plowmen at work to raise food for them. Not even the strongest locomotives or the most wonderful printing-presses are so necessary to us as plows. Learn all you can about them!" ( SweetHome)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=coo.31924014492866;view=1up;seq=9
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MC and DPL most welcome.

I was not sure what genre to list this as. It conveys historical information in form of fictional stories.

Also for the sections, I included a section for the glossary! There are a couple biographies written in this section. Also, there are interesting terms, but I'm not sure if reading terms and their definitions is something that should be included ...

Chapters 3-5 are uploaded. Feel free to point out any mispronunciations that you notice. Also, chapter 4 has some French names in it, and I am hoping I didn't mess them up too badly!

Section 3 has the sound of a mouse click @16:16 and 17:11 that need to be edited out. Also, the end needs 3 more seconds of silence.

Section 4 needs 5 more seconds of silence at the end.

Section 5 has a mouse click at the very end to be deleted.

Good job reading! :)
