My voice credits are also ready:
excellent start, Tomas. All three are PL ok. Francisca is very strict and prim indeed. And an Italian, judging from the accent  Nice touch. And I agree, the gentleman has a sort of slur in his voice that may point to a few cups too many.

Well done !

Mariana and the first few scenes for Escalus are PL OK, Sonia. :) I found Mariana sympathetic, so I imagine there'll be a contrast with Isabella, who I'm sure you gave a harder edge to. Escalus also sounds conflicted in the later scenes, so I look forward to hearing the rest of him as well!

Thanks for the PL, Tomas :)

I fear I made Isabella a bit of a bitch  I didn't really totally like her because she values her virginity more than her brother's life. So I made her very tough, the sort that would fit in well with Sister Francisca in that strict convent (but she would be the mother superior then !).

Also in this first "plea" for her brother's life, she is not really PC and doesn't really grovel as much as she could with Angelo. The things she says are more proving her point what she thinks of him (fair enough) but it doesn't really help her brother's cause. She seems to want to help him, but he character is too hard-edged to give in and do something that goes against her convictions.

Not sure if Shakespeare wanted to make her the victim we have to empathize with, but it didn't work in my case LOL Throughout the plot she always got what she wanted. Mariana did the "dirty part" and the Provost and Duke plotted so her brother wouldn't get killed. She didn't really do anything to help this along, except for lying or keeping mum about her involvement, and even that she almost refused to do.

Am I too hard on her ? Well, it may be a novel interpretation I do of her, so that will be interesting. I saw many pictures online of stage productions and she was always this very young girl with the sad or pleading expression....that's not how I picture her with the things she says and does. My Isabella is straight out pissed at Angelo and she shows her contempt.

here is the rest of Escalus, two longer scenes. He gets quite exasperated with the pimps in Act 2

here are the first two acts for Isabella, and now I am extremely curious how you will like my interpretation of her.
Then, Isabel, live chaste, and, brother, die:
More than our brother is our chastity
This says it all: she completely has her priorities wrong in my opinion.

and here is Isabella's final outrage in the court trial. She would probably have made an excellently vicious District Attorney  I had fun doing this act and unleashing all the anger she had in her. I think that the contrast of hard Isabella and soft Mariana is quite obvious here. Even though Mariana is showing some grandeur in this act as well. That's probably why I tried to make Isabella even a notch more forceful. Hope I managed.

Sorry for the delay on my Lucio speeches. "Real life" is getting in the way a lot this past week.

No worries, Brad. We're still waiting for Craig to begin, so you still have lots of time left.

Meanwhile, I had some time to finish a few more roles. I think that means I only have Angelo and Pompey left now.

I also PL'ed the remainder of your files, Sonia, and gladly mark them PL OK! I think you gave a riveting performance as Isabella. You make her very flinty (very much the picture of the Stern Nun you see in movies, with vinegar countenance); however, she is tenacious and you can't help but admire something about her. Maybe not the fact that she'd rather her brother die than give in to Angelo's demand, but perhaps her resilience and inner strength. A very complex character that I don't think anyone can completely understand. Nevertheless you do a fantastic job of bringing her to life!

yes I feared I would make her sound too old LOL well...she seems to be old before her time, probably all that vinegar ;)

But I'm glad you liked the performance.

Guys, I will probably PL your files tomorrow only. And I suspect there will be some scenes to be assembled then. Is it ok with you all, if we share the editing job again ? If so, please let me know a few scenes you would sign up for. Thanks

excellent job on all of them. I absolutely loved the boy's performance, such a pity it was so short. And I loved Friar Peter's slight northern accent :9: And the best scene was of course Claudio when he is shaking and begging Isabella to sin for his life. I was wondering how you would play your part there, considering how harshly I reacted to it. Oh, she must be really heartless to answer so fiercely to this pathetic plea. :?

Everything PL ok, except Friar Tomas, Act 5:

> at about 1:22: you missed the final quote for this role ;)
“Would he were here, my lord! for he, indeed,
Hath set the women on to this complaint:
Your provost knows the place where he abides,
And he may fetch him.”

thanks ! will update MW now and on scene can be assembled already...I will grab that one myself.

ok this was a very short scene, quickly assembled.

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/measureformeasure_4_6.mp3
Recording time: 1:09 min.

I noticed it's basically only me speaking (in three voices) and Tomas shows only up at the end  I hope I made Isabella and Mariana distinct enough.

First scene ready to PL :9:

Oops, I must not have scrolled down far enough. Thanks for catching it, Sonia. Here is the revised file:

https://librivox.org/uploads/kitty/measureformeasure_friarpeter_5_1.mp3

I also quickly PL'ed 4.6 and found no errors to report. I think your Isabella and Mariana are both distinct enough that it will not confuse anyone. One is hard and unyielding and the other softer and quieter.

yes that's what I was aiming for, glad it worked out. Thanks for the PL. I moved the file down to Act 4 now to have it out of the way.

Brad, Tomas, I will PL your files tomorrow :)
