Flame and Shadow by Sara Teasdale (1884 - 1933).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/flame-and-shadow-version-2-by-sara-teasdale/
A collection of poetry by American poet Sara Teasdale. Her lyrical poems of love, nature's beauty, and death were much loved during the early nineteenth century. ( AnnaLisa Bodtker)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/591
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

OK, your MW is ready for you! I have added a 2 to your filename, since this will be the second version of this book in the catalog. I have also added a ~ to the subject line to let prospective DPL's know that we are looking for one.

Yes I am, thank you! I work two jobs so I have given myself 4 months to complete this project. My goal is to get it done in three months.

Sounds good to me! Two jobs is a lot, and no hurry! I am already a bit over full on PLing project as it is  so it will be nice to have a mellower one :D (but if you find that you want to do a ton at once I won't complain either). Looking forward to this!

Hi AnnaLisa! I really enjoyed listening to that! It was quite a beautiful section, and your lovely voice only added to it! I only have a few notes:

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end, right now it is about 2.

I don't know if this is required, but most people put the run time of their recordings in the MW as well (in the notes section). I don't exactly know the purpose of the run time, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Can't wait to hear more :D!

We have BCs put the run time into the MW so that we can make sure we have the whole file when we catalog. It also makes life easier for the DPL, just so that you know at a glance if you have the whole file before listening.

There we go! It is great now. And we all make silly mistakes like that. My favorite was when I had to do some poetry. How I usually record poems is first all the disclaimers, then all the poems (so as to get into the feel), then I splice the poems in between disclaimers. For one I forgot to insert the poem and uploaded only the disclaimers . That gave me a good laugh.
