Public domain is depending on the country. The photo is clearly PD in the Netherlands (and all through Europe), but NOT in the US...

I'm happy to wait for you to find another photo if you like.

No thank you, this was already the result of an afternoon of searching. The original art work in the book is wonderful, but the artist who made those drawings only died in the 1980's, so isn't pd in Europe so I don't want to use it. Let's go without a picture, just with the one I uploaded without artwork. Thank you for your help.
