silverquill wrote: May 27th, 2019, 5:13 pm Well, I have the completed play for Why the Chimes Rang:
https://librivox.org/uploads/toddhw/oneactplays012_06_various_128kb.mp3 36:37
I put this all the way on top of the MW to highlight that it's ready for PL. Any volunteers for who it is PD ? I cannot PL it myself since it's not PD for me. If someone is interested, please make a note here, so the work won't get done double. :)

Thanks

Sonia
I can PL this today.

brilliant, Alan  you're so overdoing the play here, it's really tickling the laugh-nerves. And the ending line, where the great stoic Hamlet we all came to know from Shakespeare is transforming into a snivveling whimp is simply deliciously hilarious. This is an excellent performance, thanks ! All PL ok as well. I see we're all hamming up this play.

Thanks Sonia. As this is obviously not going to be the profound Hamlet of Shakespeare I thought a bit of HAM was the best option!

thank you Campbell :) a very snippish player who knows his worth and doesn't want anyone to tell him what to do  nicely done

just one small correction right at the beginning:

> at 0:07: "sir we are beholden to you for your good counsels"- you say "our", which is not logical in this context

thanks :)

@Josh: thanks for your submission, I'll put it in the MW...

super, updating MW. Now looking forward to hearing the entire play :9: ...oh no, wait, we still need some corrections from TJ :help:

and Todd: here is my Queen Gertrude, all 4 minutes worth of her. My favourite sentence was "he's going to soliloquize ! prevent this by any means !" I love a good spoof

Lovely, oh Queenly one. PL OK. Wonder if there are any more Gilbert play gems other than the Sullivanized musicals already being recorded....

EDIT: oh ho! Five more of the stories in the book were the basis of Gilbert plays. Now to track them down!

Thanks, Todd

Ooops, sorry. I'm not used to having to do corrections. I'm a method actor...

I stuck the missing line "But admit that today there is reason enough for every kind of jollity" in at 39.0:

And David: here is a first file for you to PL :) I loved being Mrs Templeton. Got me to be bossing everyone around and telling them to shut up  I hope the performance is to your liking.
