Memories of Old Montana by Con Price (1869 - 1958).

This project is now complete! All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/memories-of-old-montana-by-con-price/
Con Price recalls the 1870s through the 1930s, growing up in Iowa and South Dakota before heading out on a cattle drive into Montana. Never dull, his life was full of cowboys, outlaws, rodeos, Indians, gunfights and frontier romance. Con also reminisces about his long-time friendship and working partnership with Charlie Russell, the famous American West painter. ( Gary Clayton)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/56016
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

For the second and all subsequent sections, you may optionally use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    • "Chapter [number] of Memories of Old Montana by Con Price. This LibriVox recording is in the Public Domain."
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"

There should be ~5 seconds silence at the end of the recording.

Hi Gary,

You seem to be missing the entire New Projects template. (If you were just discussing the book as a suggestion, post it in Book Suggestions instead.) Here's a link to the Project Template Generator:

http://librivox.org/add_project

Fill in all the required fields, and then edit this first post. (Also, make sure the text you're choosing is Public Domain- published on or before 1923.)

Best,
JayKitty

Hi, JayKitty,

I was just following the directions, which to me did not make it clear to me that I was to start a new topic but not submit it before step 3 "Go to the workflow, click on "Launch a New Project," and fill in the template. "

My mistake, I tend to be very precise when approaching something new. Next time I will know better. :D

Gary

Sounds like I don't construct the Magic Window sections? I figured 18 sections because some of the chapters are in pretty brief.
The book is Public Domain per Gutenberg (and several other sources) although copyrighted in 1945.

Hi Gary,
Don't worry about the Magic Window-- your MC will make it for you

Hi Gary,

I will MC this for you. The MW is all set!

Personally, I would suggest not combining chapters as you only asked for two sections less than there are chapters. It would be easier title wise in the MW if you did not combine chapters. But that is completely up to you - you are free to combine or not as you wish! I would however certainly but the Preface with Chapter 1 (if you intend to read the preface).

As a soloist, you are your own BC and are in charge of taking care of the Magic Window. You will need to enter the titles, the file links, mark as Ready for PL, etc. Don't worry it isn't hard, and I will be here to help if you run into any difficulties.

Here is a link on how to access the workflow for the first time, and set up your password: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxWB83bbALTQYjlENGZ0SVJUWWs/edit

And a page from the wiki on how to take care of the MW as a soloist: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Soloists:_How_to_update_the_Magic_Window

If you have any questions, let me know!

We will stay here in the launch pad for a little bit to see if we can snag a DPL!

Hi Gary,

As the soloist you will be responsible for entering the files and run times in the MW (as well as post in the thread). If you have any trouble, let me know! (I put this one in for you :-))

I will advertise for a DPL!
