I've been assuming they are real, as they are certainly presented that way (with maybe some storytelling liberties taken in filling in details--it's hard to know without access to whatever reference material (likely court records is my guess) the original author used. At that time, someone writing fiction with these horrific details would probably have been banned from publishing because fiction in general was very suspect, whereas non-fiction could be presented as somehow didactic and moral (here are some horrible things people did -- don't be like them!) whereas dreaming up something horrible would be a sign of the author's evil or lunatic nature.lymiewithpurpose wrote: ↑February 27th, 2019, 8:09 pmNice reading!
