Here is my contribution! Who knew one poem could give me so much trouble! Had at least a full 60 seconds to edit out!

Sounds about right.
And it sounds good, too, the final result not the least choppy.
PL OK.

msfry wrote: February 4th, 2019, 1:54 pm Thanks Nemo and Graham as first contributors, alas, guinea pigs (sorry to have included that superfluous line, now removed! When I copied the text from the webpage, it added in the title of the poem at that spot. I never thought to check for that.

Graham, please delete "a psalm of life" at 1:15, and your bitrate needs to be set at 128kb.
Nemo you are PL OK.

And who will do me the honors? Nemo?
I just listened to it, and it's PL OK!

One of these days I'm gonna find a few minutes and record my version...

Hello Kira and welcome to Librivox. So glad you joined us. I presume you got our Welcome Letter, and if so, were instructed to submit your 1 Minute Test before recording for our projects. The reason for this not to audition your voice but your recording parameters, and to let other Book Coordinators know that they have been checked out.

The file you have submitted here has failed Checker in 3 different areas:

[*]The file name should use all lower case letters
[*]The bit rate should be 128 kbps.
[*]The recording should be in mono sound, not stereo sound

I recommend you review your letter and submit your 1 minute test and let the volunteers over there help you get your settings straight. Then resubmit your poem here (no need to re-record), just adjust your parameters when saving, and re-upload to this project. I look forward to having you back.

Hi there,

Here is my donation to the collection:

Time 2:17

Also, as it happens, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is my sixth cousin, four times removed. Common ancestors John Alden 1599-1687 and his wife Priscilla Mullins 1602-1684, passengers on the Mayflower.

My offering.
https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/psalmoflife_longfellow_wj_128kb.mp3 02:26

I've uploaded this file 3 times and it still doesn't appear in the MW.
Is there an explanation for this??

For many years, I built harpsichords. Several times I have carved on the jack rail this Latin version of the first line in the 4th quatrain:
Ars Longa - Vita Brevis
Literally "Art is long - Life is short".
I have have managed to keep one of these harpsichords (built in 1978). I have a good photo of this motto but I don't know how to post that image in Librivox. Any help would be appreciated.

Files do not automatically appear in the MW when you upload them. You post your link to the forum (as you did here) and the BC pastes it into the MW once the address checks out. So far as I know, this process has NEVER been automated.

I have no idea how you might upload a photo and have it display in LV, but if there is a way I'd like to know. Meanwhile, I suppose you could link to a photo or document stored in your Dropbox or other online storage. I'd like to see it.

Your rendition is PL OK!
