Thanks so much, Navin! One thing I've noticed right away, is the volume (decibel level) according to Checker is averaging 80.5 dB. The target range for recordings is 86-92 dB.EnNar wrote: ↑April 19th, 2019, 7:22 pm uploaded Chapter 1 for Jack Howard

I'll still give it a quick listen right now, to see if there are any other notes..... Stay Tuned!
EDIT:
Here are two small corrections you can make, too.
00:52 - and "one" of which ("one" is missing)
01:04 - "disrespectful" sounds like risrespectful
Everything else is great, and awesome reading for Jack!
If you can't figure out how to increase the volume, let us know...
April
Thank you. Will make the changes and send.
For Amplify , I tried this
Control A and selected entire track - Then selected Amplify - it shows the dB as 8.726 .
Should I just click ok?
Please let me know.
Thanks

I'm not sure.... I use GarageBand, and it sounds like you use Audacity?
Could you ask your Mom if she knows how to get it at the right volume?
You could always try it, adding 8 dB sounds about right since your first level was 80.5 dB.
Try it and see. If it doesn't work, I can increase it on my end as I edit, but it would be a good thing to know how to get it a little louder to start with.

Navin,
Yes, you can click “ok”. That is Audacity taking a guess at how much to amplify your track. Clicking “ok” generally gets you into our target volume range.

Thank you both Appreciate the help !!
Also David can you please let me know what (and how) to set the volume in Audible before starting recording so I dont do this mistake again?
Thanks much
Thanks much
Navin,
There are a few different ways to approach the volume issue. Many readers use a combination of methods, links to a few common tools below.
Increasing Input - You can increase the input volume either in the operating software or by moving the recording slider bar in Audacity (see the in the Librivox wiki).
Measuring Volume in Audacity - There is a plug-in for Audacity called ReplayGain that allows you to measure the volume in db while in Audacity,
Measuring Volume of a saved file - This wiki page on Checker explains a small program written by a member of Librivox that quickly measures volume, background noise, and a few other things.
I hope this helps, and that you find one or more of these works for your situation.

Just a couple of notes.
Chapter 3
01:17 - "or tangled himself up in the chaparral." The word "the" sounds a little cut off.
Chapter 6 (not 5) (whoops! check back and see if you have the actual Chapter 5 script somewhere, if not I can send it again.)
00:29 - "broncho" is usually pronounced "bronko"
00:43 - "Tacitas" is pronounced "Ta-SEE-tas" (it's Spanish)
April
