COMPLETE[PLAY]The Benefit of the Doubt by Pinero - thw
Just a note that Fraser is not required to have any particular sound except what YOU want him to have. As Sonia suggests, Scottish might be a natural for him, quite possibly what Steele intended. Or he might have been transplanted from Scotland at a young age (I have not read everything in the play yet to see if this is a possibility) - he might speak with a London accent. Or with any other accent you choose.
I very honestly leave choice of accents and characterizations in ANY part up to the reader. One of the key pleasures of running a play here at Librivox is finding out what the various readers have decided is right. Usually some unexpected things, and always different than I had originally pictured the play on stage myself. So that the completed play is not my vision of what should be, but a truly new and exciting collaborative creation.
Thanks, Todd

I wish I was able to do a proper Cockney accent--but alas!

I don't think Theophila needs a Cockney accent, you're upper-class accent is really wonderful. And Theophila sounds much more forceful than I imagined her in my initial reading. She is holding her head up high and doesn't want to be crushed. She probably has that from her aunt Though in some parts you let the hurt feelings shine through and that makes for very good effect. All in all, I loved the performance.
One tiny word is missing though, the rest is perfect:

great start, Foon ! Looking forward to the next act. Breaking-down point for poor Theophila.
Thanks

Act 3 is also recorded, just needs editing. I'll fix the missing line in act 1 together with any others that might appear in the other acts
