Elements of Theology by Proclus (412 - 485). Translated by Thomas Taylor (1758 - 1835)

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/elements-of-theology-by-proclus/
The Elements of Theology (ΣΤΟΙΧΕΙΩΣΙΣ ΘΕΟΛΟΓΙΚΗ) was written by the Greek Neoplatonist philosopher Proclus (ΠΡΟΚΛΟΣ) and translated by Thomas Taylor who named his youngest son Thomas Proclus Taylor. This book consists of 211 propositions, each followed by a proof, beginning from the existence of the One (divine Unity) and ending with the descent of individual souls into the material world. Saint Thomas Aquinas recognized that the Liber de Causis (Book of Causes), which had been attributed to Aristotle, was actually a summary of the Elements of Theology, likely written by an Arabic interpreter. (Adapted from Wikipedia by Geoffrey Edwards)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/details/thomastaylor/page/n805
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

MW coming up.

Let me know if any changes are needed. I changed the link to the book so it goes directly to EOT.

'Wow. That's incredible.' is exactly what I said upon seeing that in less than 6 hours you somehow found out that in the past month today was the day a new section had been quietly uploaded. 8-)
