And here it is! Hopefully I never have to say "Pauper Philosophy Office" again in my lifetime.

I have never seen the word "doosid" before, and amn't sure if it's some weird respelling or dictation of deuced? But I tried anyway!

Thank you! A very engaging story and a pleasure to listen to. From what I could find, "doosid" does appear to be a dictation of "deuced" based on one of its more common pronunciations (doo-sid, doost, dyoost). Your pronunciation was of the intended version.

There are a few quick fixes that have to be made before I can mark section 9 as PL OK.

5:22, bottom paragraph of pg.131: The line "I hereby make you" is being referred to as "I hereby ask you", which changes the overall meaning of the paragraph.

5:54, top half of pg.132: The line "As they marched through great towns in their scattered uniform" was repeated.

17:37, bottom of pg.141: An unused take of the line "Shab? Oh! you know-no" was left in. The same note is applied for the line "so called 'cause he looks like a" further down the page.

Ah shoot. Not as bad as it could have been considering the battleground that the raw was, but sorry for missing all these. Listening back to that accent is a struggle!

Section 9 is now PL OK! And no worries about the accent! It's pleasant to the ear.

Thank you for all of your contributions to this project, Skweeky.

Greetings! Last but not least, here's the first of my alotted contributions to this project. It took me a while to figure out my way around the extended recording process so apologies for the tardiness, I hope to hand in the last piece in a smaller timeframe!

Time: 41:09

Also, I'm not a native english (nor french) speaker so please tell me if I failed too hard at pronouncing something.

Thank you all for your patience! I hope the wait is worth it.

Hello mercurial! Thank you for submitting section 10. For not being a native speaker to the languages used in the story, you did very well!
There are a few quick fixes that have to be made before I can mark section 10 as PL OK. There were only a few noticeable mispronunciations.

During the intro, part 1 is not mentioned after stating "The Key of the Nursery Cupboard".

5:28, top half of pg.150: "savages" is to be pronounced as (sa-vuh-jez).

13:17, pg.155: The passage starting with "Certainly poor Chicine" and ending with "tied to it" was repeated.

15:18, bottom of pg.155: "dessert" (duh-zert) is being pronounced as desert (deh-zert) which is an easy mistake to make but it changes the meaning significantly.

15:54, top half of pg.156: "estates" is to be pronounced as (uh-steits).

Since this is your first recording for a project on Librivox, there are a couple things that can be done on the technical front that will help future recordings.

There is some minor background noise throughout the recording but a simple fix since you are using Audacity would be to select an unspoken area somewhere in the middle of the recording as a sample and then going to Effect < Noise Reduction, and following the provided steps to perform an overall noise reduction.

The volume is currently at 86.1 dB which falls on the acceptable scale of 86-92 but a noise reduction for this recording would drop that below the scale. To directly increase the volume you can either use the normalize tool under the Effect tab or go to Effect < Bass and Treble, and then altering the Volume (dB) scale by a couple points.

Thank you!

Here goes, I didn't notice those errors when doing the original recordings but they became super obvious upon looking them up, thank you for the pointers!

Part 11 is currently in progress so I hope to upload that soon too. Thanks a bunch.

Thanks! All corrections have been made. One small note before I can give it PL OK status. The ending should say "End of section 10" and there should be 5 seconds of silence at the very end of the recording.

Hello! I hope to still have made it in time, here are both parts of the story for a double submission. I ended up having to rerecord the [end of section X] bit for both cause I kept getting that mixed somehow.

I am out of touch the early part of next week. If there are any PL issues or delays, I'll catalog it next weekend.

Thanks, Todd

Thank you for your parts! Section 10 is PL OK!

For section 11, there are several areas where passages were cut out from the recording possibly during editing. I'll list the instances below the other requests.

2:13, bottom half of pg.172: "cottages" is to be pronounced as (caw-tuh-jez).

There are currently 7 seconds of silence instead of 5 at the end of the recording.

---

5:25, middle of pg.174: The passage from "she might have changed her son's nature" to "and which she had begged of her mistress" was cut from the recording.

5:49, bottom of pg.174: The second half of the sentence "Her love for him was too real and unaffected" was cut from the recording.

21:54, middle of pg.184: Narration after "came sickness" to "and Bradshall was nearly four miles off" was cut from the recording.

22:41, middle of pg.185: "The strength to tell Valerie of the deception she had practiced on her" was cut from the recording.

28:06, middle of pg.188: The passage "And now all the jewels were sold" to "prepare for his wife's arrival" was cut from the recording.

35:47, top of pg.193: The passage "by the bedside" to "Outward sights and sounds" was cut from the recording.

40:42, middle of pg.196: The passage "only too well, entailed upon her" to "and ask her pardon" was cut from the recording.

41:57, middle of pg.197: The line "in fear and anguish" to "wept like children" was cut from the recording.

I truly don't know what happened there with those cuts, but thanks goodness for backup files.

Hopefully this one's better, I also fixed that one pronunciation I got wrong.

By the way, is it too late to ask for a catalog name? I'd rather go by Effy if possible, thanks a lot!

Did you record the entire section again, or just where the fixes were? Makes a difference between the whole section requiring PL again, or just a Spot PL.

I changed the display name - you should see Effy in the catalog when we prepare that.

Thanks, Todd

Hello! What happened was that those missing bits were accidentally chopped away while exporting the previous version, nothing was rerecorded, I used a backup file I had for that same recording and worked the tweaks there. I think it was more of a program error than anything else?

Do tell if there's any more needed information or if there's anything else I should fix. And thanks for the name change!

Spot PL is easier for the DPL becuz just the identified fix spots need to be confirmed rather than a full redo.

Thanks, Todd
