Last Poems by A. E. Housman by A. E. Housman (1859 - 1936).

This project can now be found in our catalog at https://librivox.org/last-poems-by-a-e-housman/

"I publish these poems, few though they are, because it is not likely that I shall ever be impelled to write much more. I can no longer expect to be revisited by the continuous excitement under which in the early months of 1895 I wrote the greater part of my first book, nor indeed could I well sustain it if it came; and it is best that what I have written should be printed while I am here to see it through the press and control its spelling and punctuation. About a quarter of this matter belongs to the April of the present year, but most of it to dates between 1895 and 1910.

September 1922" ( Preface )
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/7848
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Thank you Phil (x2)! :D

I was thinking of grouping the poems by ~6, so you don't have the LV disclaimer every other minute. Since most are not titled anyways, I don't think the lack of titles is a big problem.. Do you think that's a good idea?

Hi Phil,
The foreword and section 1 are up! :)

Question; do you think I should say "end of poem" in between the individual poems? Right now I just left a pause, and then went "Poem #" and read the next one. I didn't want to confuse the listener, in case they might think "end of poem" means "end of section"--but if you think I should include it, I will!

No. I think a pause then "Poem # or title" would be fine. But this is your project so you may choose either way. Although now is a good time to decide and keep it the same for all of them.

Yes, that's what I thought--which is why I stopped recording after section 1 ;)

I'll keep it as is, then.
