PL notes for section 27:

2:26: you say "overtop a - b"; should be "divided by a-b" Ideally, you would start the equation at the left hand side with "x equals", but that's not a big deal.
3:23: should be: "The volume of the 6 quarters" heard: "the volume of the air 6 quarters
5:56: vide page 247 - should be pronounced as vee-dee
10:38: stumble: liquor for the mash is is consequently the

Please fix these things above.
Something else I noticed is that you have almost no breaks between the tables and whatever comes next. For example, at 21:03, there is no break between 5th (the last word of the table) and "What in the brewery is generally..." which is the penultimate paragraph. It would have been nice to give me a couple seconds in between to be able to digest the table, but then again, the whole thing is pretty indigestible anyway.

Overall, I think you did a great job with the tables and calculations, leaving out just the right stuff to be comprehensible. I doubt that anyone would listen to this book to try to make their own beer anyway.

I'll try to get to your other section asap, but I'll need a bit of a break now.
Cheers, Ava.

Thanks Ava!

Sorry about the no space between table and talking - I did have space that was too long - I guess I was too aggressive in removing it!

PL notes for section 19:

4:46: and more vinous liquor - pronunciation should be wine-ous (the word means wine red or influenced by drinking wine)
8:53: the degree of temperature the wort - I hear "temperance"
12:50 - last entry in the table before "If common small beer..." should be 2 - i heard 12
16:25: I observed, in page 183, that - heard 83
20:32: stumble on "of malt or 10 degrees"
22:22 (in the table for the second extract:) 5 Half the number of the whole... (missing the number 5 - can be copy/pasted from above though)
26:07: not only with the daily temperature of the air - I hear intemperature ?? not sure though.
27:15: elegance in taste, strength, and pellucidity - I hear pellucidy
30:25: malt to admit of pellucidity - I hear pellucidy
35:49: is most salubrious for the consumer - I hear salbrurious ??
36:38 (in the table): 2 Value of hops. - I hear two minus two value of hops (delete the first 2 please)
36:51 - 36:53 repeat in the table similar to above; cut
37:56: therefore justly grown in disuse - I hear disguise
40:46: As spontaneous pellucidity is required - I hear pellucidy

Sorry for the mass of PL notes here, this was a tough read, so let's make it the best possible. :D
Cheers, Ava.

I quickly checked the new file, but those two are still in:

4:46: and more vinous liquor - pronunciation should be wine-us (like the stuff you drink plus -us; not like in vineyard)
16:25: I observed, in page 183, that - heard 83

Okay - definitely did the 1st one as I pronounced it as you wrote it. I will try again.

Forgot to do the 2nd one :)

I'm sorry, English is not my mother tongue, so I have problems with writing stuff phonetically for English speakers. Best to look it up elsewhere, I can be wrong too (on rare occasions :P )

If the page number had been correct, I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Hi Ava -

Okay I did the two corrections on Section 19 :)

They do not exactly meld into the recording as I am in a hotel room and the room sounds different than my living room - I hope they are okay. I listened to recordings of vinous being pronounced along with my mother is a linguistics teacher and she gave me her version. I hope it meets your approval! I did the number of course too :)

I hope we are done with this book now

Funny, it still sounds the very same to me.

Anyway, time to round this up! Thanks to all the readers who put in your time and thank you Lynda for your hard work in PLing this, this was not an easy project with the weird tables and computations. We're done here, finally!

This project is now complete. All audio files can be downloaded from the catalog page:
