hello bianca,

thank you for your first ever recording!

it is very nice to listen to, lively read - and technically, it is perfect!

but there is a part, where you were whispering 5:44-5:55.
(whispering and screaming are difficult tasks in a recording!
you have to balance the distance to the microphone, the plosives, and the volume in such a case; or, the easiest way: you just talk in normal volume (maybe "with whispering voice").)

there is a plosive which makes amplifying difficult: i used replay gain to test the whispering-sequence, got a value of 7db, which is not possible according to the amplifying page - because of the plosive. but you can amplify +3db, which is sufficient (i think) and results in way better hearing and understanding (of listeners, without actually turning up the volume).
just mark the sequence, use audacity menue item "effects", choose amplify and use the suggested value there.
if you want to make it the complicated way, mark the part before the plosive first, amplify, mark the part after the plosive second, and amplify.
then you can change the value to 7.

i hope, i could help you - as i wrote: that is a difficult task..
but a fast edit, and also this part is nice to listen to!
8-)

so please forgive me, that i ask you to reupload...

cheers,
cheers

I got another uploaded! Heads up, I'm getting teeth pulled today so if there are PL notes it will be a few days before I get to them!

No problem at all! I learned an important lesson already: No whispering during recording!
Below the new file. The mentioned section has been amplified. If you still don't like it, i will just record it again.

heyho,

i hope you are doing well after getting teeth pulled...
and i hope, it is not hurting (that much, anymore, ouch...)
:|

pl is ok!
with one remark: there is a short passage missing, which is not crucial. but maybe you have it on your pc and cut it accidentally?
ca 1:45
"Among the many dolls Rose had was one she called her "messenger girl" doll It was about a foot tall, and the doll wore a blue dress, in color something like the suits worn by the telegraph messenger boys in the cities"
if you add the passage, please post a short hint in this thread, so that i can spot pl it.
if not: pl is ok, already! :-D

oh, i really hope for and wish you a no-pain-weekend!

cheers,
cheers

Thank you so much! It will get better. It doesn't so much hurt because of the pulling, but I have braces on and they are trying to close the gap. That hurts .

Anyways, I might have forgotten to hit the upload button. I re uploaded. I also clicked on the link I posted above just to make sure, and it looks like it has changed. Hope that works!

yes, that was it exactly what i experienced. they removed 2? teeths, each had 3 roots...
well, it was a pain with the brackets, after that, also :-)

regarding the file: im not sure why, but i looked up the index folder and the new version is one of the files with date and timestamp added.
i thought, only the "old" versions get that timestamp?
so, that is a task and question for bhavya and lynne!

...going to bed now, wish you all the best and less tensions

cheers,
cheers
