I have a bad cold. I will not be able to complete Section 21 for another week. At that time, I could pick up Section 18, too, if no one has claimed it.Sorry for the delay!

Hi Joan!
No hurry, take your time and take care! But section 18 has already been claimed.

hi joan,

thank you for this recording :-D

everything would be ok, but approximately at minute 7:20 your volume drops down.
i metered it with replaygain: the end of your recording needs to be amplified for about +5db.

cheers,

I have tried to correct the difference by rerecording that portion. It passed the Checker software. See what you think.

Greetings!
I see my forum name appears alongside that of Nedge for Sections 9 & 10,
which it shouldn't.
Not upsetting to me, but just wanted to set things straight.

All the best,
Stephen

hi joan,
i'm sorry for the extra work :-(
you didnt need to rerecord this part... depending on the software you use, marking the sequence and amplifying would have been sufficient, i think.

anyways:i pl-ed your section again, because i really liked listening to your reading!
eg the dog barking is done marvellous!

there is a little repeated sentence: approximately at 8,25-8,7 " I know the answer, and it isn't that."
a fast to do cut will do it!

and please: dont get frustrated...
your reading is wonderful to listen to!

I fixed it. https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/bunkersatbells_21_hope_128kb.mp3 duration 10:60
Thank you for the encouragement. I can't seem to figure out how to increase the gain on just the highlighted portion on Audacity.

good morning,

(here it is! :-) )
first: spot pl is ok now!

second:
phil made a great videotutorial, where you can see the marking of a sequence and amplifying it (after using the compressor - you can ignore the compressor and use amplify for the different parts, or use it like phil does. it helps to avoid clipping and to avoid these volume-extremes.).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fKYYj6HMZU
tldr: the audacity menue options only work on the marked parts of the recording. when you forget to select the whole recording, it will give you a failure message or it will only amplify the selected part.
- to select the whole recording, you can click into the little textwindow to the left of the audiotrack.
- to select only a part, just: (zoom, if you want to with mouse-wheel and keyboard key control pushed at the same time,) leftclick into the track at the beginning point and keep the button pressed, drag over to the end of your selection and let go of the button.

hope it helps!
cheers,

@bhavya: i set the two sections onto pl ok, while some data changes are missing - i hope this is ok!
thank you for bc-ing this book and accepting me as a pl :-)
im looking forward to listening it again after being catalogued (in the corect order of the chapters :-))
all the best to you and keep it up with your librivoxing!
cheers

Sections 18, 20 and 23 are at the wrong bitrate. I am headed out and don't have time to fix them now, so if the readers could do it, it would help enormously (plus set their computers right for next time 8-) )
