La Fuite de la Lune by Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/la-fuite-de-la-lune-by-oscar-wilde/
While at Trinity Collage, Oscar Wilde obtained a reputation for clever repartee and keen wit. He affected a superior air in his manners which irritated his fellow undergraduates, so that he once became the object of their practical joking. While at Oxford Wilde made his first essay in public as a writer by contributing several poems to Dublin magazines. - Temple Scott from the Introduction to Poems by Oscar Wilde (1906) ( )
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This week's poem can be found here.

Set your recording software to:
Channels: 1 (Mono)
Bit Rate: 128 kbps
Sample Rate: 44100 kHz

Have questions on "how"?
Check LV's Recording Notes thread before recording. If this is your first recording, you'll also find this Newbie Guide to Recording useful.
Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
La Fuite de la Lune by Oscar Wilde, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
To outer senses there is peace,
A dreamy peace on either hand
Deep silence in the shadowy land,
Deep silence where the shadows cease.

Save for a cry that echoes shrill
From some lone bird disconsolate;
A corncrake calling to its mate;
The answer from the misty hill.

And suddenly the moon withdraws
Her sickle from the lightening skies,
And to her sombre cavern flies,
Wrapped in a veil of yellow gauze.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:
File name - all in lowercase: delalune_wilde_your initials in lowercase_128kb.mp3
(e.g. delalune_wilde_klh_128kb.mp3 )

ID3 tags (Version 2.30): ID Tags are completed during Cataloging

David,

Just one PL Note: at ~0:25, I hear "some lonely bird", the text is "some lone bird".

David -

Here's mine with a corrected title -

https://librivox.org/uploads/aradlaw/delaluna_wilde_ps_128kb.mp3

Times the same - 0:48

I thought it looked a bit odd, but apparently not odd enough to motivate me to check it.
