The Lost Art of Reading by Gerald Stanley Lee (1862 - 1944).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/the-lost-art-of-reading-by-gerald-stanley-lee/

Gerald Stanley Lee speaks here-in of books and self in the time of factories, tall buildings and industry and big city making, the effects of modern civilization on the individual. ( Joseph Tabler)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/files/26312/26312-h/26312-h.htm
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Do you need to advertise for a DPL?

I've added a tilde to the title and we'll stay on the launch pad for a few days to see if a DPL volunteers. We can advertise more aggressively once you have a few sections in.

Hey, I liked the recent piece I listened to from you, and this is an interesting book, so I'd be glad to serve as your DPL.

Sigh. I just forgot to update the MW and post a note. But Section 1 is PL OK, so we're off to a good start!

Okay, I think I got it now. Not sure what the problem was.
Pretty flat out this morning, but I'll listen as soon as I can.
