Shasta wrote: March 13th, 2019, 5:55 pm I will renumber and re-post the two misnumbered files. But before I do, I need to know whether I erred with respect to the author's name in the introduction. For authors, I have recorded the names of the papers, not the name of the author of the book, i.e., Culp. I suspect that that was an error. Please let me know, one way or the other.
I will PL these when I can, but yes, please wait until I do before reuploading anything. From what I can recall, the intros were correct, but I'll get back to you with the official PL notes, hopefully tomorrow night.

I have reviewed your instructions on the first page and conclude that I did not err in using the name of the author of the paper instead of the name of the book's author.

Length= 9:30
Very nicely done! I believe this was the first one of your recordings that I've had the privilege of PLing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks so much for contributing to this project. I look forward to the rest. Section 30 is perfectly PL ok!
Thank you! And, it was/is my pleasure to participate in this project.

Hi there! May I please have an extension? The extension is for Section 89, Topic 27, by Henry E. Baker. I should definitely be finished in a few more days.

Thank you!

I would claim Sections 12, 13 and 14.
Ok, I've listened to both of these. Nice work. :) They both have audible mouse clicks at various points throughout. You're not required to edit these out, but I thought I'd mention it as something to maybe watch for in the future, just because it makes for more pleasant listening without stray noises like that. So you may want to see if you can avoid those in future recordings. But that of course is optional. :) For these two sections, please see the following notes.

Section 5:
Renumber from 04 to 005
Ending should say simply "End of Topic 1, fourth paper" (Title of book can be cut from this spot.)

Section 6:
Renumber from 05 to 006
And also, I wonder if you could take another crack at the poem, starting at 17:16?
I ain't got no edikashun,
But dis, kno', is true:
Dat raisin' gals too good to wuch
Ain't nebber gwine to do;
Dese boys, dat look good nuf to eat,
But too good to saw de logs,
Am cay'in us, ez, fas' ez smok'
To lan' us at de dogs.
I know that the dialect can be challenging, and I don't expect it to sound genuine, but I believe that the sense of the poem should be as follows. (I've put in bold the words that I think you may have interpreted differently.)
I ain't got no education,
But dis, I know, is true:
That raising girls too good to work
Ain't never going to do;
These boys, that look good enough to eat,
But too good to saw the logs,
Are carrying us, as fast as smoke
To land us at the dogs.
Of course, I may be misinterpreting this, and I'll leave it up to you whether or not to re-do it. But if my suggestion makes sense to you, and you want to try it again, that would be fine! :D

Ok, so here are hopefully improved Chapters 5 and 6 (properly labelled as such):

https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/negroliterature_006_culp_128kb.mp3 Time 19:28
https://librivox.org/uploads/maryannspiegel/negroliterature_005_culp_128kb.mp3 Time: 21:19.5

I have cleaned up as much extraneous clicking as could identify and re-recorded the poem at 17:16.

Oh wow, thank you! I wasn't expecting you to go and cut all the clicks, but thanks!

I'm at work right now, but will check these when I'm able.
