Thank you, Tiffany. I'm excited! I'm hoping those "once in a blue moon" quiet times happen here soon.
My closet (walk-in) has the best acoustics for recording. :D
Still trying to figure out some GarageBand settings for my 1 minute test, but hope to record some this weekend.
You and me both! I happen to actually be (mostly) alone this weekend, so I am going to see if I can get some recording done tonight/tomorrow!

Chapter 13

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/dawnofthemorning_13_hill_128kb.mp3

19:15

This is my first try ever, so feedback is much appreciated!
Is there any noticeable background noise?
Are my spaces good between sentences?
Should I do anything different?
Thanks so much!! :)

Hello, LikeManyWaters,
Congratulations on your debut!
At 28 dB, the background noise is very much acceptable, no worries, and the general sound quality, and your reading are good!
There is a 2.5 sec pause at 7:00, which is rather noticeable, considering pretty high tempo of your reading, other pauses match your speed and the context.
You DON'T HAVE TO do anything different, just cut the pause at 7:00, and you will be all set. However it looks like you are asking for my opinion -- I would slow down a bit. Just listen to your favorite professional recording and compare to yours, and you would know what I am talking about. No need to re-record this chapter, just for your future consideration.
Looking forward to the pleasure of listening to your further sections :D

If you are most comfortable reading at that speed, but like the sound of reading slower you can always tweak the tempo a little it is easy and you can look it up or I can tell you how if you are interested.
As Mark said though, it is up to you and you do not need to change anything if you like your recording how it is! Some people, like myself, do not mind a fast reader.

Thank you guys both for the feedback. I'll fix the long pause and reload soon.
I assume the old file gets overwritten since they are named the same?

WELL, probably I was thinking "hurry up and get this done before the toddlers wake up!"
I do tend to read fast usually. Still, I'll try just relaxing...

Hi Tiffany, I had requested chapter 16 also awhile back but noticed it hasn’t been assigned yet. Didn’t know if there was a problem or just an over site. Let me know. Thanks.... Barbara

Actually, files don't get overwritten. When a file with the same name as one already on the server is uploaded, the original gets automatically renamed (the date and time when the duplicate is uploaded is appended to the original). That way the link to the most recent version stays the same, but the original is still there on the server just in case someone else accidentally uploads a file with the wrong section number. :)

ok, thanks for clarifying that. That is a good way for it to work as I have seen that happen, so I guess somewhere in my head knew that!
