My effort:

Shall I presume he is grateful of countless narrow escapes, or is he feeling melancholy to have lost out on so many wonderful opportunities? I can't tell.

"who might just have a fickle clue on
what are Dead Sea pickled pears, and rue."

All I can find about Dead Sea pickle pears" are references to hand and body emollients, lotions, etc.
Rue is a bitter, foul smelling herb, a botanic healing plant. I don't see how that fits in with the mentions in these two poems, however.
Rue is traditionally associated with regret.

Aaaaarrrrrggghhhh!
"Who might just have a fickle clue
On what are Dead Sea pickled pears and rue"

I am embarrassed that I did not catch that this was a poem-let.
The "on" appearing at the end of the first line
Disguised to my eyes the "ue-ey" rhyme.

Tonight I'll drink vinegar and put myself to sleep on sharp stones.

Vinegar and sharp stones, eh. Geez. You sure know how to pressure a fledgling poet. But, but, but . . . . I like ferreting out the buried rhyme. And . . . . . you did finally get it!

Michelle,

Thank you for asking me to PL your poem. I did and you are PL OK! You did a great job, as always.

I don't have access to the MW so you will have to change the status.

Thanks again for asking me to pitch in!

Take care,

Greg

Thank you.
Your English pronunciation is almost perfect. I can't tell whether you were raised speaking Russian or Ukrainian.
