Pied Beauty by Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844 - 1889).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/pied-beauty-by-gerard-manley-hopkins/
In the Author's Preface to Poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins, he describes this poem as Curtal-Sonnet "that is they are constructed in proportions resembling those of the sonnet proper, namely 6 + 4 instead of 8 + 6, with however a halfline tailpiece (so that the equation is rather 12/8 + 9/2 = 21/2 + 10 1/2)." ( Wikipedia)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!
This Weekly Poem was suggested by Adonis. :clap:

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
Pied Beauty by Gerard Manley Hopkins, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
GLORY be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim:
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches' wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and
plough;
And àll tràdes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.

It's been awhile since I've done a weekly poem - but this week it's Hopkins, and I can't pass it up!

David -

Here's my attempt. I've been having some respiratory issues and am more wheezy than usual. Hope this is alright.

Sounded fine to me. That is, PLOK. That is, aradlaw's version. Looking forward to Algy's suggestion.
