Thanks for Section 10. I'll get it PL'd shortly.

Hi Phil,

I'd like to record sections 14-19 or all of chapter 3.

Let me know if that's fine,
Justin

Being honest here I have discovered some major weirdness in the volume levels!!! My piece sounds really bad and I might have to redo it! :/

Hello, Justin, Welcome to Librivox and Welcome to the Project!

I'm delighted by your enthusiasm, but before I can assign you to a section, you need to complete a 1 minute test. This is not an audition, merely to see if your recording setup meets our technical specs (and to help you adjust them so that it does--).

Here is information that all new recorders may find useful: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Newbie_Guide_to_Recording

Here is specific information on completing your 1 minute test: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

Once you have uploaded your 1 minute test, if you will post a message here (in addition to where the directions tell you to) I will see it and can help expedite the process.

I will hold Section 14 for you for the next 10 days to give you time to complete the process. I look forward to hearing you read for Librivox.

Many thanks,

Philip

I had posted a reply to you earlier, but it seems to have vanished from the boards so I will try again. Welcome to Librivox and Welcome to the project! Delighted to have you here.

Before I can formally assign you Section 31, you need to complete a one minute test. I will hold Section 31 for 10 days to give you time to complete it. Here is the link with specific instructions: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=1-Minute_Test

This is not an audition, merely to see if your recording setup meets our technical specs, and if it doesn't, help you make the necessary changes so that it does.

In addition, if you will post a message here, I will see it and be able to speed up the approval process (I hope).

Here is a link to additional information which new recorders may find useful: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Newbie_Guide_to_Recording

If you have any questions or things seem confusing, don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to hearing you hear at Librivox!

Many thanks,

Philip

Foon:

Section 3 has the same loudness problem as Section 2 but is otherwise PL-Ok.

Section 4 is Pl-OK!

Nicely done.

Peter:

I've listened to your one minute test, and before I can pass it on to an MC for final ok, there is just one correction:

There is a considerable amount of background noise in the reading which should be cleaned. Here's some information on how to do that:

https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Noise_Cleaning

Also, philchenevert, MC and "Librivox Video Guy" has a series of helpful videos on a variety of topics, including 3 on noise cleaning (you'll need to scroll down to find them) at this page: https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php?title=Instructional_Videos

If you'll clean the noise and re-post, I'll take another listen and get it to an MC so we can get you started. Other than that your tech specs were within Librivox parameters.

Also be thinking of the catalog name (some use their real name, some their user name, some something else) and let me know if you have a blog or website that you would like for us to link to.

You have a pleasant voice and a crisp clear reading style which will be a great addition to our librivox collection!

Many thanks,

Philip

Re-uploaded lower volume version :)

Question: do you know how I can check this myself on a Mac? So far what I've been doing is just kind of eyeballing the sound waves, but clearly that's not working as well as I hoped..
Foon - Real life is getting in the way of LV, will be slow until all is back on track, please bear with me!

Foon:

The Checker software available through a link on this page https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

will help with that. It is MAC compatible (and a freebie).

Many thanks,
