Rona:

This one passed all the tech specs. I'll get an admin to make the final ok.

One more thing...how would you like your name to appear in the catalog. Some folks (like me use their user name, some use their real name, some use a different pseudonym. Also do you have a website or blog that you would like us to link to?

Many thanks,

Philip

Rona,

As Philip has said, your file passed the checker, and is technically OK; however, I would recommend the following to further improve your test recording. First it's always a good idea to remove any significant DC Offset, then I would suggest one pass of noise removal and finally lower the volume to 89db. This is the result:

https://librivox.org/uploads/tests/test_rona890_nc.mp3

To remove DC offset from your recordings, simply Select All (Ctrl+A), Click Effect | Normalize, and check the "Remove DC Offset" box only.

For Noise removal instructions see:

http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Noise_Cleaning

I used the first ~ 0.5 second at the beginning of the file before you start speaking for the noise profile, then the default settings to reduce the noise in the above example.

You can use the Effect:Amplify to lower the volume of the file. Important: be sure the box to allow clipping is not checked!

Detailed instructions for adjusting your input levels can be found here:

http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Setting_Recording_Input_Level

You can download the checker program as Philip suggested to check your volume after exporting to mp3 and before you upload your file.

https://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Checker

If you prefer you can use the Replay Gain plugin directly in Audacity before you export to tell you how much your file needs to be amplified or deamplified to get to 89 db. Instructions here:

Phillip,

I will be on vacation until July 10, so I won't be able to complete my test by the seventh. If you can't hold section 55 until then, that's okay. If someone else doesn't snap it up in that time, I'll pick it up once I've done my test when I get back.

Thank you,

Christy

Hi Phillip,

I've recorded sections 38-39 and uploaded them. Here are the links:

https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/juniorclassicsvol2_39_patten_128kb.mp3

I wasn't sure about the pronunciation of some of the Greek names, so I checked them on YouTube. Hope I did it right.

Christy--that's fine. I'll hold the section an additional 10 days. Have a great vacation!

Kay:

Sections 38 & 39 are PL-OK! Nicely done!

(Vol 3 in this series which hasn't been read here at Librivox yet also has Greek and Roman tales in it. I may put it on the boards after this volume is finished).

Many thanks,

Hi Phillip,

I noticed that there's still one section left in this book, which is section 56. May I claim it? Thanks!

Good Evening Phillip!

Section 18 is here and ready. Time is 14:00
https://librivox.org/uploads/knotyouraveragejo/juniorclassicsvol2_18_patten_128kb.mp3

Section 19 is close on its heels, I just had a quick question about that one. All the these stories have been listed as "Stories of Lohengrin" but the last story, section 19 Wooing of the Daughter of the King of Ireland, does not involve Lohengrin, nor the grail at all, and it is also not by Constance Maud. While it does not matter to me while reading them, if that distinction needs to be made in final editing, I thought I should bring it up.
