Candide by Voltaire (1694 - 1778) (Version 3). Translated by Philip Littell ( - )

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/candide-by-voltaire-3/
Ever since 1759, when Voltaire wrote "Candide" in ridicule of the notion that this is the best of all possible worlds, this world has been a gayer place for readers. Voltaire wrote it in three days, and five or six generations have found that its laughter does not grow old. (Philip Littell)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/19942
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

I typically log on and upload each weekend - so I should have all draft recordings done by next week

There are 10 more sections ready for you :)

Awesome, Craig!!

Can we add an image to the project? Right now its just the LV logo.
Perhaps a shocking image from the book:
The monkey lovers https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Moreau_Monkeys.jpg
A statement on slavery https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fichier:Moreau_Sucre.jpg
Candide being swindled: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:CandideSwindled.jpg

Thanks again!
