I have a much-loved collection of short stories, which includes one by Henry Kuttner called "Or Else". (Pub 1953)

It also contains the Ruum by Arthur Porges, (Pub 1953), and Little Brown Jesus by Joan O'Donovan (Pub 1970.)

I love these stories, and was hoping to record them for Librivox. They are out of copyright in UK law, but I gather that US Law is a different thing altogether. Are they off limits completely?
Ah, no, none of those are likely to be out of copyright in the UK ... the authors died in 1958, 2006 and 'still going strong' respectively. :D To be eligible for Legamus!, they'd need to have died in 1947 or before -- or to have explicitly put the stories into the public domain.
There's honestly no such thing as a stupid question -- but I'm afraid I can't rule out giving a stupid answer : : To Posterity and Beyond!

I've just started a book - so my contributions here may be a little slower or much reduced, you may be relieved to hear! I will of course produce the odd story for this collection or at worst for the next.

Incidentally, my wife tells me I sound much better lying down in bed, so I thought I might have to do all my readings from a horizontal position! I discovered though, if I hold one side of my face it balances up my mouth, and produces much better results. I just have to remember to do it!

This is my return after a long absence so I'm still getting back into the swing of things. Hope I did everything correctly.

I wanted to try a short story for this collection by Bret Harte, that I don't think has been recorded before. It just slid in under the hour mark!

"Mr. Jack Hamlin's Mediation" by Bret Harte (1836-1902)

Thank you. Not a problem if it was in a previous collection anyway.

Section 7, "Mr Jack Hamlin's Mediation" Pl Notes
2:50 short repeat "making the chlll of the damp, making the chill of the damp...
and 3:18 even shorter repeat "some dried ferns, some dried...
Almost too short to mention, but thought you might want to make it perfect like the rest of the reading.
