A Vanished Hand by Sarah Doudney (1841 - 1926).

This project is complete and all audio files can be found in the catalogue: https://librivox.org/a-vanished-hand-by-sarah-doudney/

Memories haunt Elsie Kilner at every turn. Kicked out of her family home, she finds a new abode in which she finds fragments of a diary. It begins with the words: "If I only knew that some one would be kind to Jamie". Finding a kindred spirit in the author of the diary, Elsie goes on a search. - Summary by Stav Nisser.
  1. How to claim a part, and "how it all works" here To find a section to record, simply look at point 5. below at the sections. All the ones without names beside them are "up for grabs." Click "Post reply" at the top left of the screen and tell us which section you would like to read (include the section number from the left-most column in the reader list, please). Read points 6. to 8. below for what to do before, during and after your recording.
  2. New to recording? Please read our Newbie Guide to Recording!
  3. Is there a deadline? We ask that you submit your recorded sections within 1-2 months of placing your claim. Please note that to be fair to the readers who have completed their sections in a timely way, if you haven't submitted your recording(s) after two months, your sections will automatically be re-opened for other readers to claim, unless you post in this thread to request an extension. Extensions will be granted at the discretion of the Book Coordinator. If you cannot do your section, for whatever reason, just let me know and it'll go back to the pool. There's no shame in this; we're all volunteers and things happen. Please do not sign up for more sections than you can complete within the two month deadline.
  4. Where do I find the text? Source text (please only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/28237
  5. Please claim sections (the numbers in the first column below)! If this is your first recording, please let me know under which name or pseudonym you'd like to appear in the LibriVox catalogue. We can also link to a personal website/blog.

Prospective Prooflisteners: Please read the Listeners Wanted FAQ before listening! Level of prooflistening requested: standard

Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

How wonderful of you to join, Raponzelina.
In this book, I would need help with the followin erias of managing the magic window:
1. Entering the wordcounts.
2. Entering claims.
The rest I can do. It is going to be a fun project.

Hiya, I'm a newbie, literally just joined! I'd be keen to do some reading on this project. Am I right in thinking no one has claimed any chapters yet? I'd be happy to read from the start if that's the case...

Hello magz,

welcome at LV!

I will happily enter your name for the first chapter.
But before you start recording, please do a 1 minute test (linked to our wiki) and post it in the 'listener wanted' forum (linked) .
This is, to ensure your technical settings are alright and you know how to upload etc.
The 1 minute test text is made for checking for plosives and other things, too.
And it is always better to learn about several pl styles and you will get answers and help specifically for these first steps.

So, it depends on your wishes, because we can make this like we should... or we make it here in this thread.

I will wait for your decision (or test). Meanwhile, please answer these questions to set up your reader page:
Do you want to link a Homepage or Blog on it?
Which name or nickname do you want to use as a reader?

Cheers,
schrm

Hi Schrm,

Pleased to meet you! I've just posted a one minute test in the 'listener wanted' forum. Hope it's ok.

Unfortunately I've got to run now but look forward to my return :D

Hello Max,
welcome to Librivox. Good luck with the one minute test. Please let us know which chapters you want. You can start from one but I cannot sign you up until I know for sure which chapters you want. Have fun,
Stav.
