Thank you - both for working with me on 'Lilian' and agreeing to help me again.

- A slight book. I can imagine Bennett dashing this one off. He seemed to me to leave loose ends to follow up if he wanted to but didn't - the business with the letter and the lord near the beginning / the strange meeting with the courtesan in the hotel / the hint at the end that the doctor was interested in her. - And then the abrupt ending! He clearly just lost interest in it, I think.

Still, he is certainly a very good writer - witness his Five Towns books (and 'Leonora').
