Hi Nico and a big welcome to LibriVox! :D I have assigned that section to you but before you record it, please make and upload a 1 minute test to be sure your recording set up is OK. Instructions can be found in our Wiki and in the first post of this project but Here is a video that may help too: How to Make your 1 minute test.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlaRY_-bcfs and then How to Upload your 1 minute test How to Upload your 1 minute test

(You may post the link to your test in this forum and I will see it much more quickly)

I also recommend Getting To Know our Forums Getting To Know Our Forums

We just want to check out your technical specs. Don't forget to post the link either in this thread or in Listeners WAnted forum. Ask lots of questions!

Hello, this will be my first recording. I would like to claim section 4 if I could. I would like my Name to be my actual name and not my username. My actual name is Jason Martin.

Hello. I'd love read a section of this, if I could. I've read other chapters here at LibriVox, but if you need to hear the test for yourself just let me know.

Could I take section 7? My catalog name is Sondra Robinson (@ SondraRobinson.com) while informally I go by Dravon.

In reviewing the section, I'm of course seeing many words that are Greek. I'm sure these names are mentioned in other sections but I don't have them to listen to for confirmation, and it's been a very long time since I read Herodotus for my history classes so my recall might be fuzzy. Can I ask for confirmation of pronunciation of the following names?

Sesostris -- ses-OSS-tris
Hephaistos -- hef-ICE-tus
Dareios -- da-RI-oss
Pheros -- FAY-ross
Tyndareus - tin-DARE-e-uhs
Taricheiai -- ta-ray-KEY-I (?)
Erythrabolos -- air-ee-THRA-bo-luhs (?)
Heracles -- HAIR-uh-kleez
Menalaos -- men-uh-LAY-uhs (aka Menelaus)
Teucrian -- TWO-kre-an
Thonis -- THON-iss
Proteus -- PRO-tee-uhs
Diomede -- die-O-mi-dee
Sidon -- SEE-don
Polydamna -- po-loo-DAM-nah
Telemachos -- tel-EM-ah-kuhs
Cyprian -- SIP-ree-an
Priam -- PRY-am
Achaian -- ah-KEE-an
Rhampsinitos -- ramp-SIN-i-tuss (?)

Hi Sandra and a big welcome to this historic project. You may certainly have section 7. As to your wonderful list of pronunciations, most look (sound) fine to me except for Telemachos which I have heard as both your way and as tel-a-MAK-os so take your pick. I am no expert or ancient Greek speaker so it is really your choice and it looks like you are doing a GREAT job! My Greek was about 60 years ago and Koine and taught by a monk from German who knows, eh?
