DrPGould wrote: July 18th, 2018, 6:54 pm Hello, Terry, and welcome to Librivox!

You have a pleasant reading voice, and your reading style worked very well with these poems. While they were done in a style which would engage the listener, there are a few simple corrections necessary before they can be marked PL-OK. Please don't be discouraged, some of these things you will adapt to as you continue to read here, others continue to plague my own readings.

First a few technical items:

File names here are very important...our cataloging system is not set up to handle extensive variance between file names in the same project. The file names for this project should be in the following format: humorouspoems_###_brennan_128kb.mp [where ### is the 3 digit section number]. The word "poems" seems to be missing from each of the files for sections 67, 68, 69. In addition the file name for Section 67 has the word "copy" between 128kb and .mp3. Easily fixable when you re upload.

With respect to the intro: With poetry of this length, we use the shortened Librivox intro:

[Poem title], by Ignatius Brennan, read for LibriVox.org" by [your name].

It seems that elements of the longer intro have crept into the beginning of your sections.

When reading poetry, the rhythm and rhyme scheme of the poem are as important as the author's works, so they are proof listened to a little more carefully than prose. (A misplaced syllable can disrupt the author's rhythm, for instance). I understand that it may seem picky, but trying to preserve the author's work in her/his own means of expression is part of what Librivox is about.

In Section 67 at 1:01 there is a line missing. The line is "But in his new one, he'd give ye a lift"
at 1:07 I heard "better the boss" : I expected "better the hoss"

In Section 68: at 0:34 I heard "possesses" : I expected "possess"

In Section 69: At 0:53 the "of" is missing in the phrase "not of much worth"

These lines can be re-recorded and cut and pasted over the existing files. There is no need to record these whole poems over again...just some minor spot corrections. If you have questions about how to fix these sections, I'd be happy to help. This was a good first effort! I hope to hear more of your reading.

Many thanks,

Philip
