Patrick:

The section on the sneak thief is now PL-OK! Thanks for your patience and understanding. (The doctors tell my I'll be back to "normal" by mid June...of course, come to think of it, they didn't say what year. )

I enjoyed your reading.

You're welcome - interesting piece of legislation wasn't it?

Title should be Office for Victims of Crime

Craig:

I've had occasion to work with these programs. They provide necessary services for crime victims--and actually should be expanded in some crucial areas.

I enjoyed your reading.

I think the program can do some good but I also see potential for abusing the funding.

Lynne:

Here's another offering:

Upload link: https://librivox.org/uploads/lynnet/cb_016_captainkidd_pg_128kb.mp3
Duration 12:11
Title: Circumstantial Account of the Life, Trial, Piracies, and Execution of Captain John Kidd, who was hanged at Execution Dock
Author: William Jackson, Esq. (of the Inner Temple) DD/BD??
Link to text https://archive.org/stream/newcompletenewga01jackiala#page/39/mode/1up

If the link to text doesn't go directly there, Kidd's chapter starts on p. 39.
I looked for BD/DD for Wm Jackson, Esq without success. There is a preacher/journalist whose dates are 1737-1795 with the name William Jackson, but there is no indication he was ever a barrister.

Many thanks,

Philip

I found a fun little news story that I couldn't resist adding to this collection!

Here is: "Brooklyn Girl Robbed" by anonymous from the New York Times, May 27, 1900.
