Thanks Hugh and Peter and nice readings! I thought the concept of books flying out to find people was sort of appropriate for librivox. Peter, do you have a personal URL you want included?

I'm at a meeting to help plan the IT infrastructure for a new research facility that's being built here in Barrow. It's cool, at noon the sky isn't as dark as night but it's sort of a twilight. Sadly it's overcast so I haven't seen the aurora.

The static wasn't a problem for yours, hugh, but it seemed awfully quiet to me. Otherwise I like your reading, and the slow pacing of it

Okay, thanks Peter!Annie, no URL yet.
Peter
Yes, me too. It was very quiet but amplifying will probably increase the static. Also, it some ended up as a 64kbps. I converted it on my computer but you may want to check your settings. The static wasn't a problem for yours, hugh, but it seemed awfully quiet to me. Well I was dog tired today after just a few hours sleep last night but my new Plantronics DSP 500 headset/mic arrived today and it was such a treat that I had to practice with it -- even though I swore no recording tonight!

Okay - before you climb all over me, I just want to say that I am not trying to double-dip here! You see, I have this alter-ego that's been bringing me comfort for quite a few years. Matter of fact, I invented him around the time a friend of mine was ailing a few years back.
At first listen, he doesn't seem very polished but I have discovered (during many conversations with him) that he is wise beyond his mutterings. I have big plans to bring him back to life - perhaps in some piece of Mark Twain work once I get past my current obligations. So I wanted a chance to practice him again after a long lay-off.
Well, I'm wind-bagging it now so here you go.

Oh my goodness, Robert, this is brilliant! Yet another great use for weekly poetry: practicing voices, accents, and characters! I have to say, I was laughing out loud when Eugene announced that the poem was by "Yeeeeeeets."
As a native Missourian, let me guarantee you that Eugene would be *perfect* for reading some Twain. I'm starting Huck Finn soon and I don't know if I can do the rural midwestern accent as well as Eugene!
Would you please ask Eugene if he would like a URL attached to his name on the catalog page? Thanks.

Just my name is fine. I do have web pages, but they are so old and I don't really feel like fixing them.LibraryLady wrote:Got it Kayvan, thanks. Very moving rendition. Do you have a URL you'd like inclulded in the catalog page?

I suggest not putting Kayvan's email address on the catalog page -- he'll be spammed to death :)
