All audio files can be found on our catalog page: http://librivox.org/where-my-books-go-by-william-butler-yeats/

This project is now closed for submissions. A new weekly poem will be posted soon!

Alrighty, folks, I've chosen a nice little poem about books for us this week.

As usual, each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many Librivox volunteers as possible! Have fun!

Where My Books Go

by William Butler Yeats
ALL the words that I utter,
And all the words that I write,
Must spread out their wings untiring,
And never rest in their flight,
Till they come where your sad, sad heart is,
And sing to you in the night,
Beyond where the waters are moving,
Storm-darken'd or starry bright.

You can access the poem here in the Bartleby collection:

http://www.bartleby.com/101/862.html

File name: where_my_books_go_yeats_[your initials].mp3

ID-3 tags (version 2):

Title:Where My Books Go
Artist: William Butler Yeats
Album: Librivox Weekly Poetry
Genre: Speech OR Other
Comments: Recorded by [your name] **this is optional**

New readers: remember to read the "librivox disclaimer" at the beginning of your poem. Because we are doing such a short poem, you can do an abbreviated version such as this: "Where My Books Go, by William Butler Yeats, read for librivox.org by [your name]" or some variation on that, adding date, location, your personal url, if you wish.

**FYI: Contrary to what the spelling of his last name seems to imply, Yeats is pronounced "Yates" with a long "a" sound.**

At the end of the poem, it is a good idea to say "end of poem" and leave a few seconds of silence.

If this is your first recording, please read the Recording Notes http://librivox.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106

When you are finished, please post a link to your version in a reply to this post, or use yousendit to get it to me at this address: ac DOT timshel AT gmail DOT com

Please also tell me what name you want listed on the catalog page and your website address if you want that included.

If you wish to contribute, please have your readings submitted by 5:00 PST on Saturday, January 14th.

Enjoy yourself! I look forward to listening.

(Remember, anyone who submits a recording can choose the next weekly poem! If you'd like to pick next week's poem, just post here!)

I haven't read anything by Yeats in years and I've NEVER seen this one - Thanks!

Wow, Chip, great reading! You set a high bar for the rest of us. :) It's been a long time since I've read Yeats as well... browsing through his titles on Bartleby, this one caught my eye. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you, thank you! It was slightly intimidating following your recording (well done!) but I enjoyed it. It's nice having these short recordings to do. It allows me to practice a bit, and editing is a breeze.

Oh never be intimidated by anyone kri, for beauty is surely in the ear of the beholder. Each of us brings a little something to the work and no voice is really "better" than any other.

To be sure there are differences, but each listener will have a favorite and those will be spread all over the spectrum. Each time you read, you reach out and touch lives; few things are as empowering.

Besides, each of us is our own worst critic and that's no less true for me than for anyone else. Thanks for bringing something to the table which I can learn from to improve my own performance!

Nice job, Kristin! I agree with Chip, my favorite aspect of Librivox is the great diversity of readers you get and I think the weekly poem illustrates this so well, I always look forward to seeing how one poem can be transformed by a variety of voices from around the world.

How would you like your name to appear on the catalog page? Do you want a URL linked? Just let me know, thanks!
