Far Above Rubies by George MacDonald (1824 - 1905).

This project is now in our catalog at https://librivox.org/far-above-rubies-by-george-macdonald/
Proverbs 31:10-11 says, "Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil." (KJV)
With this in mind, George MacDonald gives us the short story of a young and aspiring Scottish poet named Hector. ( HannahMary)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/8955
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

Thanks so much, Phil! Since there are no chapter or section breaks in this short story, I just split it into 6 sections that will hopefully end up between 20-30 minutes each. Do I just leave them untitled in the MW?

I would call each of them Parts, like Part 1, part 2, etc. and put that into the MW. When reading, just say, Part 1, ...and the rest as usual. Looks good

I'd be pleased to have your PL help, Devorah. Thanks! Glad you're enjoying What's Mine's Mine! This project will be MUCH shorter. :-) More like 2-3 hours total.

Part 3 has no ending silence. Add that 5 seconds at the end, and you'll get your PL ok.

Good catch, Devorah! Should be fixed now at 21:24 in length.

I recorded the remainder of the story today but still have a lot of editing to do.
