sect 8
PL notes:
Please increase your volume. Your volume is slightly low at 85.3 db, it falls outside of the target range of (86–92 dB).

Some editing required. There is too much silence at the beginning of the recording (00:12). "No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!"

I've made the adjustments to chapters 1 & 8. I hope they are adequate. Thanks for the tip on "spot PL". I was never sure when to use that choice in the magic window.

Daryl, if acceptable to you, I'd enjoy being the DPL on the remaining chapters. Given her Chicago roots I'm interested in MR and would like to listen to the completed chapters first.

Section 5
Always use Audacity (Effect/Amplify) to change the volume of the file. If clipping occurs (as in Section 5) and prevents amplification you will need to use Effect/Compressor to remove the peaks in the audio waveform so that you can amplify the file. Watch the video below.

Section 6
I can adjust this when I catalog the book.

Enjoying the story and reads.

9-10 PL OK.

Throughout this recording there is an electronic glitch. Several minutes in (~4m20s) it occurs quite frequently. It's more obvious on my mp3 player than my computer.

Sounds good to me if you want to do both. Myrtle Reed has rather been a boon to me, and thankfully this book *isn't* such a downer. Some of the other ones, in comparison, seemed to relay the bummer Victorian outlook prior to the upbeat Edwardian perspective.

Yep! That was the microphone crackling and popping, I'm sure. I might have to re-perform a large portion or do the whole darn chapter over. I'll put that on the top of my list here.

So, I did the compressor with chapter 5 and re-uploaded.

Now we've got some, presumably, good news for Barbara in Chapter 11, in the time span of 14:51

https://librivox.org/uploads/craigdav1/flowerofthedusk_11_reed_128kb.mp3

(And now to shake my fist at chapter 8... and re-perform that.)
