sect 3 The Tower of Cologne
PL note: Your reading is PL OK, but you still need to increase your volume.

Your volume is (83.7db), this volume falls outside of the target range (86–92 dB).

I uploaded chapter 2 & 3 again and also chapter 6, duration 17 minutes and 28 seconds.

I wasn't sure what to do for chapter one so I will await that advice. Thanks!

It is hard for me to advise you; my tech knowledge is limited. I have heard of something called compression in Audacity.

This video shows you how to use the compression function in Audacity. You will need to use it to increase the volumes of Sections 2&3 (82.3 and 83.4dB, respectively) as there are spikes in the waveform that are preventing amplification.

Mp3Gain is a useful program for determining the volume.

sect 2 & 3 PL OK

sect 4
PL note

You need to increase your volume. 82 is low, it needs to be increased to 86.

A-ha! I got a good tutorial today, thanks Dave! Aw, Phil, always putting together those tutorials. That whole video was a trip, I hadn't seen a moving picture of Phil before. His robe was cool too, nice and at-home.

So I compressed and re-uploaded chapters 1, 2, 3, and 4. It was wild to do the compression and see the track expand. I presumed it would just lower the peaks but it didn't always, it often made the whole track expand to increase in volume. If it didn't I amplified it, of course.

With chapter 7, I had actually been doing a sort of compression thing by hand, really. So before I watched that video I was teaching myself how to do something similar, decreasing the peaks so that when I amplified the track as a whole it would reach that higher volume we're shooting for.

Here is chapter 7 with the duration of 17:01

(In which we come to discover, or allow Barbara to discover, why Roger's mother wasn't the most attractive of marriage partners for Roger's father. Eep!)

Glad you found the video useful. Yes, Phil does set the fashion bar pretty high for the rest of us. Hope you are far from the fires. I have family in Redding and they just got evacuated.

Just giving a heads up that we got sick out here (and I'm sure the West Coast fire/smoke phenomenon added to the problem) so I've been coming back to personal abilities slowly this last month and will return to my LV commitments ASAP. *heart*

I really don't believe this will make the grade with all the troubles I couldn't edit out, but I just wanted to put it out there to show I haven't been slacking. I've been editing this chapter incessantly and getting nowhere.

Aye, aye, captain! We were far enough. I'm not shirking my gratitude over here! I hope your folks managed to skirt the distress.

Phil's robe protects many a psyche, I believe.
