I was thinking the same thing :? I'll sign you up, Philip !
I do need some guidance (this is my first narration gig):
I let Devorah answer the project-specific questions, but for Narrator in general, it's just like with any role, just leave enough editing space in between your quotes, that's the most important thing  And if a stage direction comes right at the beginning of a person's speech, you should say the name as well.

Example:
John (taking the book from the table): "I will read for a bit." (sits down on the couch). "Don't disturb me."

Here you would record "John, taking the book from the table" - 2 seconds of pause - "sits down on the couch". So no need to repeat "John, sits down on the couch" because it's inside his speech.

I do need some guidance (this is my first narration gig):

Assuming that the cast is going to do its usual voice credits...does the narration start with "Scene--Basil's home in NYC"

When we did Box and Cox, you had the characters read their own costume description...are you doing that this time? Do you want the costume description read?

Is the props list p. 4 part of the narration?

Prior to each characters first line, would you like me to read her/his name?

Any other special instructions?

Many thanks,

Philip
Great questions! I hadn't even asked myself that yet, so thank you!

In looking at it just now, I almost decided to omit pages 3 and 4 in their entirety, but I think we need it, if only to introduce the idea of the "food safe."

So, what I think I'll want is, of course, the disclaimer, then "Characters." (Don't forget your "narrated by" or "stage directions read by" or whatever.) And then, yes, "Scene: Basil's home in New York City," and continue on through the end of the Scene description (including costumes please), omit the props list, then move on to page 5. I hope that's clear?

Also, maybe Todd/Michele/Sonia/whoever can chime in: That's allowed, right? Or do we have to include the props list, too, so as not to alter the text? I think it might be tedious to listen to, but not horribly so. :hmm: I don't know, but I'd appreciate a second opinion on that.

I think Sonia already answered any questions that I didn't cover, but let me know if I missed something.

Devorah:

I appreciate the help. I think (since you're uncertain) I'll go ahead and read the props list (and then it can be excised in the editing process--no harm done). That will give others time to chime in and maximizes your flexibility.

I'll get to work......

Many thanks,

Philip

I do not think you need to do the props list. Might be interesting - I can't check from this computer.

Thanks, Todd

Great job on Basil! I love the laugh you did near the end, and the little gasp, too! I'll definitely use both of those.

I have one small correction. There is a word missing in one line that I think is important enough to warrant it:

9:43 "There can be nothing more between you and me--" ("more" is missing)

awww what a sweet Criquet. :9: Although my favourite line was this one: "It was I who made you take it." Haha, I can literally see her stamping her little foot there. Wonderful touch.

No lines missing, everything nicely read. Only one thing you need to correct, please:

> for the voice credit, please say the entire description from the MW: “Criquet, servant to the Countess, read by Jasmin Salma”

The rest is perfect. Thanks !

lol! I actually had to ask Jasmin to read that line a second time a little further away from the mic -- in her first take she screamed indignantly into the mic, popping all sound barriers! ha ha!
