Section 11 is in the MW and ready for PL.

Many thanks,

Philip
Good stuff, Philip, but 2 PL notes:
13:34 repeat of the word "three"
18:17 missing words after "It is thus" viz. "that he is bagged incessantly by political tear-sqeezers"

Poor Poe. Literally, I guess.

PL OK again. Have you read any Linda Lippman (another Baltimore Sun journalist)? She wrote a mystery in which Poe's grave featured, along with the mysterious Poe Toaster. In case you are not familiar with the P T:

"For over 60 years, starting sometime in the 1930s, an anonymous person known only as “the Poe Toaster” marked each Jan. 19 with an appearance at Edgar Allan Poe’s grave. Wearing a white scarf and a wide-brimmed hat, and arriving in the early, early morning, this person stood at the grave, poured and drank a glass of cognac, and left three roses on the gravestone."

Hi Karen,

Nice reading, you're off to a great start. PL OK.

Best,

Barbara

A technical tip for future reference:

If you are using Audacity, make sure that in the View menu "Show clipping" is ticked. Then look at your file. You will see red lines where the volume spiked a bit too much. I have been using "Normalize" or "Compressor" under the "Effects" menu myself to get the spikes down but I'm not a technical expert (unlike our famous MC on this project, Phil Chenevert, whose videos I recommend)

Barbara, how did you download this file 7? I don't see the link. Oh, and thank you for the compliment! Your comments are correct about clipping.

Low cunning, Phil. I made it myself by prefixing the link to your uploads directory to the file name.

Hi. Would you mind telling me how you got this link? Actually a link is to a site on the internet and this is just an mp3 file. To upload a file as described in the first post, Upload your file with the LibriVox Uploader: https://librivox.org/login/uploader . when you open this site it will ask for your user name and password, these are the same for everyone and are specified in the first post.

Here is a little video that may help explain the steps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB57z2l5LtA&list=UUg82GZ8Dap4MDbXpYuF06qA

After you upload, the page will give you a link (blue) and that is the one to post in the project. As always, be patient and all will come clear or at least not so muddy. Ask if this is unclear.

To Phil and Barbara: I had an unexpected medical issue arise and have been away from my home and computer until this morning. I'll be 100% in about 6 weeks. (I'm going to be slowing my activities here for a bit, but I can still do a little). I appreciate the two of you carrying on this project to its conclusion.

To the wonderful readers: A hundred thousand thanks for volunteering to read pieces of this project. Mencken is not for the faint hearted, and can be challenging to get through, but you all managed it magnificently.

Many thanks to all (I'm deeply in your debt).

Philip
