I remember seeing this post way back when it was made, and then I neglected to add your section to the MW! Terribly sorry about that! It's there now.Elizabby wrote: ↑January 24th, 2018, 11:14 pm Here is Chapter 13 of this very interesting book! I was rather shocked that the definition of "spinster" was "woman over 20!" I also find it very interesting to note that she talks about women's lives and contributions "after the babies have stopped coming" - I sometimes forget how much of a difference contraception has made to women's choices in life!

There is a drastic role reversal in traditional Korean society. The young wife is almost a slave -- to the mother-in-law until the family is raised. Then she becomes an ajumoni and wields great power, even reputed to be the toughest masters of organized crime. Don't mess with an ajuma/. As in all of Asia, this is breaking down, and the age for marriage goes up and the birth rate goes down.

Certainly! Welcome to LibriVox, and welcome to this project! Before getting started, please complete your one-minute test. Instructions are given in the welcome email you should have received. This is to make sure that all your technical settings are correct. You don't want to spend a long time recording and editing just to find out you have to do it again because one technical detail should have been different.
EDIT: Oh, also, before I can sign you up, I need to know what name you'd like to use for the LibriVox catalog. This is what you'll say when you come to the "Read by _____" part. You can use your real name or a pseudonym. Also, if you have a website you'd like your page to link to, you can tell me what it is and I'll take care of it.

Ava, I had a quick listen to the beginning of this, because I wanted to be sure that the chapter subheadings are all there.Availle wrote: ↑February 3rd, 2018, 7:58 am Here's preface and introduction, with a total time of 9:29

Would you please add after "Preface" at about 0:37, the following (from the table of contents): "Homo—Human principles of government—Unscientific scientific men—Our masters"
Thank you so much! Sorry for the delay in adding my own notes. No rush, though.

Thank you, Larry. I'm going to amend your PL real quick, however. I'd like the subheadings (from the table of contents) to be read after the chapter title. In this case, at 0:24, after "Causes of the Women's Movement", I'd like "Woman becomes articulate—Why the movement has become political in England—Women’s handicap—The need for concentration—Two kinds of change: education, industrialisation—Adaptation essential—Solidarity of women".silverquill wrote: ↑February 7th, 2018, 10:29 pmOh, my! Please make sure these are included in each section. I'll try to remember to mention them to readers when they sign up. I included something about this in the first post, but little things like that sometimes get lost in all the rest of that info.

Ah, I do remember reading that! Just didn't click in like it should have. Sometimes it takes a lot to ring my bell. I will be sure to check these.mightyfelix wrote: ↑February 7th, 2018, 10:35 pmThank you, Larry. I'm going to amend your PL real quick, however. Yes, and thank you regarding section 11. I will run a test next week, and would like to use the name: Mari Patterson.
