A Wall by Robert Browning (1812 - 1889).

All audio files can be found on our catalog page: https://librivox.org/a-wall-by-robert-browning/
Browning, when at his best in vigor, clearness, and beauty, is peculiarly a poet for young people. His freedom from sentimentality, his liveliness of conception and narration, his high optimism, and his interest in the things that make for the life of the soul, appeal to the imagination and the feelings of youth. - TEACHERS' COLLEGE, NEW YORK, July, 1899. (from the Preface to Browning's Shorter Poems)
Each week a poem is chosen to be recorded by as many LibriVox volunteers as possible!

Begin your reading with the abbreviated LibriVox disclaimer:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
A Wall by Robert Browning, read for LibriVox.org by [your name].
[Add, if you wish, date, your location, and/or your personal url.]
Then read the poem:
O the old wall here! How I could pass
Life in a long midsummer day,
My feet confined to a plot of grass,
My eyes from a wall not once away!

And lush and lithe do the creepers clothe
Yon wall I watch, with a wealth of green:
Its bald red bricks draped, nothing loath,
In lappets of tangle they laugh between.

Now, what is it makes pulsate the robe?
Why tremble the sprays? What life o'erbrims
The body,—the house no eye can probe,—
Divined, as beneath a robe, the limbs?

And there again! But my heart may guess
Who tripped behind; and she sang, perhaps:
So the old wall throbbed, and it's life's excess
Died out and away in the leafy wraps.

Wall upon wall are between us: life
And song should away from heart to heart!
I—prison-bird, with a ruddy strife
At breast, and a lip whence storm-notes start—

Hold on, hope hard in the subtle thing
That's spirit: tho' cloistered fast, soar free;
Account as wood, brick, stone, this ring
Of the rueful neighbours, and—forth to thee!

At the end of your reading, leave a space and then say:
End of poem. This recording is in the public domain.

Please leave 5 seconds of silence at the end of your recording.
Save your recording as an mp3 file using the following filename and ID3 tag format:

Thank you flowerpower91, good reading, but I have to ask if you use Noise Reduction before you save your file. There is a hum in the vocal portions of the file which may indicate too aggressive a NR value. I also notice a mic click at the end of your reading, editing this out will give a better quality to your production.

*Have you been asked under what name would you like to appear in the LV catalog? We can put your personal URL link on your catalog page too,if you have one.

Here's mine:

This is my first recording other than the 1-Minute Test. I think I'll need to work on the spaces and the blowing on the mic...

Good first recording JetiiJorad. You are right, there are several mic noises, you can eliminate most breath noises into the mic by positioning the mic off to the side of your mouth; there will be some loss of volume, but amplifying should cure that. Please experiment to find the best mic location for you.

Thanks for letting me know aradlaw! I'll keep all of this in mind. I'll edit it out when I get the chance. Yes I did do noise reduction but I can do more.
