Homeward Songs by the Way by A.E. (1867 - 1935).

This project is complete! All audio files are available on our catalog page:
https://librivox.org/homeward-songs-by-the-way-by-george-william-russell/

George William Russell -- better known by his pen name "A.E." -- was an Irish writer, poet and mystic, a lifelong friend of William Butler Yeats, and an original member of Ireland's Theosophical Society. In a letter to a friend, penned several years before he died, he wrote: "I know no mechanism is going to solve the world's problems. Nothing will, except the spiritual life." This volume of poems contains his first published work and reflects on the mysteries of nature and the divine, of life and the universe. ( Nemo)
  • Text source (only read from this text!): https://archive.org/stream/homewardsongsbyw00russuoft#page/n5/mode/2up
  • Type of proof-listening required (Note: please read the PL FAQ): standard

IMPORTANT - soloist, please note: in order to limit the amount of languishing projects (and hence the amount of files on our hard-pressed server), we ask that you post an update at least once a month in your project thread, even if you haven't managed to record anything. If we don't hear from you for three months, your project may be opened up to a group project if a Book Coordinator is found. Files you have completed will be used in this project. If you haven't recorded anything yet, your project will be removed from the forum (contact any admin to see if it can be re-instated).
Please don't download or listen to files belonging to projects in process (unless you are the BC or PL). Our servers are not set up to handle the greater volume of traffic. Please wait until the project has been completed. Thanks!

  • The reader will record the following at the beginning and end of each file:
No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
    START of recording (Intro):
    • "Preface of Homeward Songs by the Way . This is a LibriVox recording. All LibriVox recordings are in the public domain. For more information, or to volunteer, please visit: librivox DOT org"
    • If you wish, say:
"Recording by [your name], [city, your blog, podcast, web address]"
    • Say:
"Homeward Songs by the Way , by A.E. [Preface]"

For the second and all subsequent sections, use the shortened form of this intro disclaimer:
    DURING recording:
    • No more than 0.5 to 1 second of silence at the beginning of the recording!
    • At the beginning of the recording, read the abbreviated "LibriVox disclaimer":
"[Poem title], by A.E., read for LibriVox.org by [your name]"
    • Then read the poem.
    • At the end, say: "End of poem. This recording is in the public domain." and leave five seconds of silence.
  • At the end of the book, say (in addition):
"End of Homeward Songs by the Way , by A.E. "

There should be ~5 seconds of silence at the end of the recording.

Future MC ...

I am using the standard LV disclaimer for the 1st section, and then the abbreviated Poetry disclaimer for all subsequent sections.

The DPL for this project will be Helen (HZFerr)

Thank you, and Happy New Year!

You're all set! I've shortened the suggested file name a bit; feel free to adjust the title in the file name if you like. I've also entered Helen as DPL (thanks!). I'll move this to Solos in a day or so. Have fun, and happy New Year to you too!

Define "A Lot" .... I'm not sure such a thing is possible with chocolate!

BTW, Congratulations on your 11 year anniversary!

Thanks Helen!

As long as we are telling XMas chocolate stories, here is mine:

Years back, my girlfriend at the time was up visiting from NYC for our 1st Christmas together. I had found out that she loved Godiva chocolate truffles and had bought her one of those 24 piece gift sets.

Christmas eve I had wrapped it and placed it under the tree and we went out for dinner. When we got back, my dog at the time, Bowie, had sniffed it out and ate 1/2 the box!

Poor thing, threw up about an hour later .... cleaning that up was NOT an experience you would wish for,

Luckily he was OK!

Oh, BTW, I had a productive day .... sections 2 through 9 are in the MW for PL!

PL OK for:

sect 2 The Unknown God
sect 3 By the Margin of the Great Deep
sect 4 Desire
sect 5 The Place of Rest
sect 6 Self-discipline
sect 7 Forgiveness
sect 8 Pity
sect 9 Krishna

Great reading.

Chocolate story, I received a Monster 5Lb Hershey bar. Couldn't break it, wrapped a kitchen towel around it, put it on the kitchen floor and just kept wacking it with my hammer. My floor is quarry stone (very old) now 2 tiles slightly cracked, but hidden by a 5x8 area rug.

I don't think I have a chocolate story as good as either of yours

Bowie did you a favor by throwing up the chocolate at home instead of at the emergency vet clinic!
